When if ever has the Federal Government questioned how the program funds were spent?
An Audit of Federal Funds and programs provided to California undoubtedly will find corruption, fraud and waste.
DOGE it.
DOGE goes into Cali and watch the Leftist and RINO Politicians evacuate overnight to non-extradition countries.
“On Friday, Gov. Gavin Newson (D) wrote to Congress to request $40 billion in federal spending on damage from the recent Los Angeles wildfires. ”
And therein lies the problem. The individual states (mostly blue states) can spend recklessly on any boondaggle they want (healthcare for illegals, grants to cities for homeless care, exorbitant government salaries, start-up money for unrealistic green energy ventures, and payoffs to loyal donors like the teacher’s unions) and they all know that if they overextent or don’t plan for future contingenices, the Federal Government will always bail them out. How do you folks not living in California feel about your hard-earned tax money going to states poorly run and who hate you but will take your money?
Not only do I not want any federal dollars going to California, but I don’t think Sacramento should be bailing out the fire victims either. If you did not have fire insurance then that’s on your dumbass. You rolled the dice and lost.
@Rich – I may be wrong on this, as I do not live in Cali and I did not spend last night in a Holiday Inn Express hotel last night… But, I recall hearing that the California “government” restricted the amount of money an insurance company could charge for home insurance. This limits the amount of money an insurance company can keep on hand in order to handle large fires that can take out cities.
So, how are insurance companies supposed to survive if they cannot make enough money to cover paying out contractual agreements when the government not only refuses to do it’s job protecting communities from wildfires, but limits the amount of money they can charge for home insurance?
Cali brain dead legislators forced insurance companies to include earthquake insurance. So they left. Right before the fired.

I want every last dime of revenue that has been collected by state, regional, county and local government, school and library districts and agencies audited and a full, detailed and thorough accounting made before they receive one more goddamn dime of federal money for anything whatsoever. Just like my kids, if they have pissed away their own money, or money their mom gives them that doesn’t ever come with any expectations, if/when they come to me they have to SHOW me proof that they have been responsible enough to be trusted with my money.

By design. It was all part of the overall scheme to expropriate that real estate.
Government should have absolutely no say in what anyone can and cannot purchase with regard to insurance of any type. The benefits of making that so would far outweigh any and all problems government interference was sold as the solution to.

Admittedly, I am no insurance expert, but a two-minute Google search revealed that there are still over one hundred different insurance companies offering policies for fire coverage.
Knowing human nature, I suspect that many of those fire victims saw crazy price increases (I did, for sure, and I don’t live in a fire prone area) or read that their company was bailing and made the conscious decision to “risk it”, or just put off the decision to go with another insurance company.
As with most things, I try to use the metric ,”What would I do?”. First off, I would not live in a fire-prone area to begin with. But if I did, I would get fire coverage, no matter the price, until I could either find a cheaper alternative, or move.
I am not un-sympathetic to anyone that loses their home and all their stuff, and if negligence can be proven on any municipal level, sue the shit out of them. But there should be consequences for those that risk and lose, either on a state level or individually where decisions are made.
I made my above hit and run comment as I was leaving the gym. To expand on it, don’t send California ANY money. Our selected officials can’t be trusted with one thin dime. I feel bad for the peeps home that went up in smoke, but a lot of them are responsible for the idiots we have running the state, so oh well. Newson has to go through Kevin Kiley to request federal aide. He’s been turned down every time he tries his transparent bull shit. The first one was when Gov dip shit declared a state of emergency for one case of Bird Flu. And again, Newsom’s already defaulted on about 20 billion dollars to the feds that the employers in the state are now paying for. In a couple years this will be a crisis. Every business in California will be forced to leave. In short Newsom just attached a time bomb to the Cali economy.
I imagine sooner of later Trump will need to send SoCal some of everyone else’s tax dollars. I hope he drags it out until Newsom’s on his knees and then forces him to implement voter reform.
As for California DOGE. Right now that won’t work. These Libtard Socialists will do the exact same thing Karen Bass Hole just did with her committee. Find a bunch more Libtard Socialists to run Cali DOGE and end up legitimizing all the damn thievery.
JDHasty. Exactly. In fact this is the end result when they do get involved. Trump called the little weazil who drafted this bill out to his face. The news media ignored it. Would you buy a used car from this clown? And he been there for ever.

I know Trump has a lot on his plate, but this fight (eliminating ALL Federal aid to the individual states who are too reckless with their own finances) is worth going to the mattresses over.
The Federal government has at times offered monies to the states for a specific objective. What comes to mind is the bargain Jefferson struck with Hamilton (in Ben Franklin’s parlor) in Washington’s first term. The deal was that Congress would assume the debts of the individual states collectively for the war with the agreement that The Capitol would be built in DC (the land that is now DC).
But I don’t know when this notion that the states could go hat in hand for bailouts, needed for their own profligacy, when this started. This practice needs to end now.
^^^^^^
Thinking about it, SoCal should get the exact same treatment as Maui or western North Carolina is receiving right now. Seems only fair.
You people siding with insurance companies must have a lot more money than I do. Our insurance was cancelled and we couldn’t get it at any price for 3 years or more.

There’s no one here siding with insurance companies. Reread the comments. Everyone’s point here is the fucking government has no business getting involved in jack shit really. They screw up everything they touch. And they certainly screwed this up. I guess it wasn’t insurance on your home that was canceled. That or you don’t have a mortgage. No lender would allow a home, they own, to be uncovered for even a month.
