Pentagon Announces DOGE Team Has Found $80M in DEI, Other Wasteful Spending

Breitbart: Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell announced on Monday evening in a video statement that the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, team at the department has identified about $80 million in spending on diversity, equity, and inclusion that will likely be cut.

Parnell revealed some of things DOGE has found so far:

— $1.9 million for holistic DEI transformation and training in the Air Force;

— $6 million to the University of Montana to “strengthen American democracy by bridging divides”;

— $3.5 million at the Defense Human Resources Activity for support to DEI groups;

— and $1.6 million to the University of Florida to study “social and institutional detriments of vulnerability and resilience to climate hazards in the African Sahel.”

Parnell said in his statement, “You see, folks, this stuff is not a core function of our military. This is not what we do. This is a distraction from our core mission.” More here

  1. That’s 0.0089% of DOD’s budget; not even a drop in the bucket. Elon was on Rogan’s podcast the other day and said that his concern is if he pushes too hard with DOGE that people will try to have him killed. He’s probably right about that. There are trillions at stake, and a lot of people who worship money and power. They don’t want ANYBODY getting close to taking those things away from them, and they’ll protect the gravy train – no matter what it takes.

  2. Pocket change. You are correct @TommyBoy in IN. There are extremely high stake involved with the Pentagon – not only with government people but with contractors. And some of those contractors are very nasty folks. Interesting that “billions” no longer sounds like a lot of money.

  3. I get it – $80 million is pocket change in the military budget. But you have to start somewhere. Financial planners frequently advise clients to start small; cut out the morning Starbucks lattes, try some generic brands as substitutes, use a list when grocery shopping, and other nickle and dime stuff. Pretty soon, instead of cutting a $1 here or $.50 there, you are cutting $10 and $20 and getting used to being more frugal.

    A F35A costs about a little over $80 million per plane, so the Pentagon just got a “free” one by cutting out some useless DEI stuff. We are just asking the government to be better stewards with taxpayer money.

  4. @Wyatt: I’d agree with you if I hadn’t heard the story Elon told the other day. He was talking with Susan Collins; she’d gotten 12 BILLION dollars allocated to the DOD to build some subs. None were built so she naturally asked the DOD where the money went – their response was, “We don’t know.”

    We’ve gotta get those people off of the government’s (our) teat!

  5. Say what? That’s sofa change there.

    BILLIONS have been admittedly un-accounted for already!

    I’m sure the peeps at the Pentagon are hoping it goes away with this piddling amount.
