  1. LOL!!
My response to most of those would be “And?!”, “So?!”, and “So What!”.

  2. When I tried to get my grandfather to give me a ride from his farm to where my cousin lived about a mile away back in the early 60’s, he would tell me to hoof it and use my shank mares to get there. If he was already going somewhere he would give us a ride otherwise forget about it.

  3. Never had any grandparents, adopted Old Fellow and Irene, or maybe they adopted me.
He had been born late 19th centuary, on the same Island where we lived, it was developed about 1920.
Another old person I knew, Capt. Downes.
Learned to make a castnet on the front porch of this house, ’60s it was falling apart then.

Would listen and talk with them for hours, loved to hear the stories, they had a million.

  4. My son is working with me this summer for 2 REASONS:
    1) University Kids Have NO IDEA how to use Hand TOOLS, SWEAT, & Climb ROOFS (commercial HVAC). They gotta toughen up.
    2) Don’t say “NO” to a summer Job UNLESS you have ANOTHER ONE LINED UP.

Today I asked him, “do you want to call it a day & save the next job until tomorrow, or go NOW?”

    He said, “Tomorrow”

So I drove Over, and we pulled another couple HOURS.

He’s Gonna Learn NO MATTER WHAT!

  5. I never met either Grandfather because they both died before I was born. Both were born in the 1870s.
Both of my Grandmothers were just like these ladies. One born in the 1880s and the other in the 1890s. Both lived meager lives and taught their offspring to “tough it out”.
