President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed the HALT Fentanyl Act into law, which permanently schedules fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I drugs.
Trump held a signing ceremony in the East Room of the White House, which some 200 people attended, including everyday Americans who have lost a loved one to fentanyl poisoning. more
100+ years of drug war FAILURE clearly show that government “prohibition” is NOT the way to solve these problems. Drug use/abuse in an of itself is a symptom of a far greater societal problem that NOBODY truly wants to face, and creating a super-profitable black market ONLY benefits scum like the Cartels and the CIA who fund their crime sprees through black market sales of drugs. But hey, keep pretending it works. Now don’t get me wrong…locking down the border did a great job at reducing supplies and that is the right thing to do one way or the other, but decriminalization would do more to undermine ALL OF IT than any proclamations of this kind.
Agree with MrLiberty. A new law won’t stop people from using, and if anything gives greater financial incentive to those willing to ‘work around’ laws.
What we need is intervention on a massive scale. Like ICE intervention it will take time to get to all who need it, but it will be the most effective way to help those who are crying out for
more housingprofessional help.I don’t like it.
This will keep fentanyl from people suffering with pain, imagine suffering with cancer.
Schedule 1?
…well, if that is defined as…
“Schedule I drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use…”
https://www.dea.gov/drug-information/drug-scheduling
…but…
“Fentanyl injection is used to relieve severe pain during and after surgery. It is also used with other medicines just before or during an operation to help the anesthetic (numbing medicine) work better.”
https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/fentanyl-injection-route/description/drg-20075614
…it seems to me that, definitially, either it isnt a Schedule 1 drug as it HAS a LEGITIMATE use (with a long history in surgical settings) or that they just legislated a useful drug out of a doctor’s medicine bag and legitimate patients will suffer for it.
Anything can be abused. You cannot outlaw everything someone misuses. Rescheduling this only denies it to the people who need it, and serves no other purpose as the abusers dont get it from the doctor in the first place…
…but
New class = They’re trying to get life imprisonment for the people who bring that over the border.
Does this mean weed is coming off the Schedule I list?
