Walz: I will not run in 2028

Black Hills Pioneer:
SIOUX FALLS — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz wants to see a Democrat elected president in 2028.

But he told the Black Hills Pioneer in an exclusive interview that it won’t be him. Walz, the 2024 Democratic candidate for vice president, said he will not run for president.

“I will do whatever it takes to get someone elected,” he said. “But I’m not interested.”

Walz was asked again. Is there a chance he would run?

“No,” he said.

He is still deciding if he will seek a third term as governor in 2026. He also would need to select a new running mate, since Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan is seeking the Democratic nomination for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Tina Smith. MORE

  1. Tippy Toes Tim won’t be able to waltz far enough away from a payback tsunami just because he’s leaving office as governor. The scandals and corruption he’s involved in will eventually overtakes him.
