WASHINGTON–President Donald Trump, who has been critical of cost overruns on renovations at the Federal Reserve, toured the ongoing construction there on Thursday, alongside Chairman Jerome Powell.
Trump, who has repeatedly called on the Fed to lower interest rates, said that the cost overruns are not a fireable offense.
“As a real estate developer, what would you do with a project manager who would be over budget?” one reporter asked Trump.
“Generally speaking? What would I do? I’d fire him,” Trump said. more
Most of the pictures and a clip of the tour Trump took with Powell struck me as a Principal (Trump) touring a filthy school with the custodian (Powell). The look on Powell’s face in most pictures makes me think he is trying to shrink into oblivion. I don’t think his look is one of shame, because he has none, but of being caught red handed and he has nowhere to run.
What a lousy, stinkin’ trick. The Federal Reserve banks are (sorta) privately owned. But the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, whose palatial digs are getting the multi-billion dollar rebuilding to make them even more palatial, is a feddle agency. So taxpayers pick up the costs their gold-plated bathrooms.
END THE FED!
I take it the US government owns the buildings that house “The Fed”……a private corporation……I see a few scenarios……
Spend the $2 billion on renovations and then charge “The Fed “ rent….say $2-20 billion/ year….Spend the money on renovations and sell it to “The Fed” for $200 billion to $2 trillion….
If “The Fed” owns the building……Why are we paying for the renovations…..???
Oh……and if “The Fed” is a private corporation……I’m hoping that “The Fed” pays for their benefits, costs of business, and salaries…..
No more free rides on my tax dime.…..and maybe “The Fed” will be forced to pay/eat some of the national debt.
The FBI should investigate this – check ALL the receipts and checks. It’ll show the building cost 10 million to build, and the remainder of the money has gone into the pockets of democrat politicians and operatives.
