TownHall-
The Trump administration awarded more than a billion-dollar contract to build the largest illegal immigrant detention center in U.S. history. The decisive move aimed to restore law and order, manage the surge of illegal immigration, and ensure that those crossing the border unlawfully are correctly processed and held.
The Trump administration announced a $1.26 billion contract to build the largest migrant detention and deportation center in the United States at Fort Bliss, Texas. Spanning over 1.12 million acres near the U.S.-Mexico border and including an airport, the facility is designed to house up to 5,000 detainees. It will serve as a key deportation hub for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The center will feature climate-controlled tents, equipped with heating and air conditioning. Virginia-based Acquisition Logistics Company won the contract, with $232 million of the funding provided by the U.S. Army. more
The money should be deducted from various members of the previous administration.
When will all these border jumpers stop costing us?!! I know for a fact there are hundreds of thousands of Americans who still can’t afford health insurance and are going without coverage because of the “Affordable Care Act”. Our transportation systems, especially air travel, is at real risk because our money was diverted to Leftist pipe dreams like DEI, CRT, and so on.
This detention outlay and structure and the others like it are looking way too permanent. All the new hires for these places should not be counted in “job growth” numbers.
If this facility goes up as fast as Alligator Alcatraz, Tom Homan will be able to go Scorched Earth on the Sanctuary Cities and States.
I just checked the map and found that the closest point in Fort Bliss to the Mexican border is just over 2½ miles. That’s a bit of a stretch for trebuchet deportations so the returnees might want to buy parachutes for the descent and landing.
What happens when all the illegals are deported and it’s no longer needed? HA! HA! HA!
^ We’ll all be dead. But our great grandchildren will be saying, “Thanks all you great grand boomers!”
More please. As long as these detention centers efficiently process and transport illegals for deportation as quickly as possible this is great news.
1.26b/5000 = 252000 Dollars
1.26m/5000 = 252 acres
@Mya Guess — Units! Units, units, units! Always show all units!
That way we’ll know for sure whether or not you’re replete with feces.
@Anon14:34:
Haven’t you heard the word on Prog Street? President Vance will use them as concentration camps for the Woke and assorted liberals, commies, and all of America’s able-bodied welfare leeches.
(You may not have recognized it, so: </sarcasm>)
$1.26 billion dollar contract to house 5 thousand illegals on 1.23 million acres.
(There is a mistake in the acreage calculation above-
should be 1230000/5000 = 230 acres per illegal.)
You have to be pretty dense to confuse capacity with head count.
You don’t divide the $1.26B by 5,000. It is designed to hold 5,000 illegals AT ANY GIVEN TIME. New illegals will be brought in while the old ones are deported. We have at least 40 million of them, we could use a dozen of these facilities.
