Democrat New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell was indicted on federal charges on Friday.
A federal grand jury indicted Cantrell and former New Orleans Police officer Jeffrey Vappie after an investigation by the FBI.
“Cantrell is charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to obstruct justice, making false statements and false declaration before a grand jury, according to a federal indictment filed Friday in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Louisiana,” NBC News reported.

Of course, post-Katrina Nagin was more fun, especially when he deflected from his God-awful emergency management and unConstitutional disarming of citizens he could not otherwise protect with his racist “This city will be chocolate at the end of the day.” comment instead.
…well, he got that. LaToya Cantrell is as “chocolate” as can be, checking all the boxes and fulfilling all the stereotypes. She cant run a city but isnt it great that shes female and Black?

…I was in Nawleans 6 months after Katrina, mostly for business in Covington on the other side of the Causeway, but of course we had to check it out. I was surprised after all that time that I could still see boats in the middle of roads, piles of washed out cars, silt on some streets, and hollowed houses festering in the humid New Orleans sunshine. The French Quarter was the ONLY thing really cleaned up down there, and our local hosts earnestly cautioned us to not step outside that “Green Zone” after dark. I dont drink and it was just after Mardi Gras so all the voodoo shops, whores, and pickpockets that usually give the place its flavor were apparently taking the week off so I really didnt get the TRUE Nawleans experience, but I saw enough that I wasnt interested in seeing more and spent subsequent trips lounging at the airport hotel because I lived North of a chocolate city back home and didnt need to repeat the experience in tropical humidity and with no gun on the road.
I did enjoy the T-shirts, tho.
…the only businesses besides Katrina that had clearly bounced back well were the Arab T-shirt sellers that are endemic to EVERY tourist area, and Katrina and the bumbling Black government had given them plenty of fodder for upper body expressionism. One that I didnt purchase and wished I had was a blue shirt styled with the New Orleans Police Department logo of NOPD, but with letters verical from that defining that as “Not Our Problem, Dawg”, an apparent jab at the way they had evaporated at the first trickle of the flood and didnt come back until the NG had it back under control.
One that I DID get was a styling of Mayor Nagin as a well-known fictional English chocolatier, introducing his image as “Willie Nagin And The Chocolate Factory”. The wife hates when I wear it, but its been my observation that, of the very small (hopefully) group of people actually intetested in reading an old White man’s chest, its a vanishingly small subset that has any idea 20 years later what it MEANS. My son’s genrration seems to have memory-holed the erstwhile mayors racist maunderings (with the assistance of media moguls everywhere no doubt), so generally speaking everyone today is too ignorant of its meaning to get offended on behalf of Blacks everywhere, as liberals are wont to do.
…I wonder in what way dear LaToya could be memorialized in cotton? Has she had a Marion Barry “The Bitch Set Me Up” moment? A Karen Bass African Adventure? A “Cold Cash” Jefferson (fellow Louisanian) nickname?
..I guess it doesnt matter. T-shirt satire requires a sense of humor, a thing that Communists simply will not tolerate. Poke at HER in polyester and be immediately cancelled and possibly attacked Cincinnati style because, rayyycism, or something.
