  1. I’ve watched this at least 5 times and just realized Juanita is referring to the song as Cool Operator. LOL. That’s OK. Jazz is like the red headed step child of music. I could accurately be described as a metal head. However growing up in the Bay Area we had this radio station, KSOL. Pronounced KSOUL. And damned if it wasn’t. The played anything from BB King to Muddy Waters and beyond. So even though I’m a metal head I’m seeing the similarities in R and B and metal. And I’m spending more time on KSOL than the heavy metal rock stations. Then about 1985 KSOL changed it’s programing. Jazz. Jazz was pretty damn eclectic for me. But I enjoyed the hell out of anything SADE did. An awesome talent. About 3 years later KSOL went RAP. No talent. Worthless. Killed it all. Once again sinking to the lowest common denominator. I think if someone were to open a station like the original KSOL today it would be a huge hit. Yuge.

  2. Speaking of Metal, Rock & Roll, Blues, Jazz, when I was late teens we tried to think we were open to it all. A few of us load up my car and went to Minneapolis for a Herbie Hancock and some other guy, I think his last name was Mann. We had front and center seats. We all fell asleep. I guess I’m not a jazz fan. But these kids are good, they should stick with it.

Like most music, when jazz is good, it’s really good. That’s Sade. On a side note I married a woman 6 years younger than me. God knows we are one in the same in politics. Music, not so much. She grew up listening to Sweet and Innocent Donnie and Marie crap. By the way I’ve often thought about violating Marie. I know, I’m a pig. Where was I? Oh yea. We have this relatively expensive sound system in our house complete with strategically placed speakers in the 12 foot ceilings. Well I’m guilty of blowing the sheet metal covers off said speakers. A lot. She finally stopped putting them back on. But in my defense who doesn’t play Hiway Star as loud as you can? I am not a gay man. LOL

  4. Brad, I never had strategically placed speakers in the ceiling but we had Bose 901 speakers along side a couple nice Klipsch speakers. They were down stairs, I could go upstairs and take a shower and not hear the water running. Turns out I was the only one that liked that.

  5. I’ve seen a number of videos of these kids. I love that they play real music and have chosen some older pieces. However their version of this one just doesn’t do it for me. It really doesn’t hold a candle to Sade’s sexy voice and Stuart Matthewman’s soulfull, sexy sax.

  6. I think it hit a head with the Doors, “Been Down So Long”, followed up with “Roadhouse Blues”. I’m not sure if was “been down so long it looks like up to me”, or “I got up this morning and got myself a beer”. Either one was heard by many!

  7. Great little cover band. Proof a lot of Gen. Alpha are done with Hip Hop or rap which is not music – it’s horrible poetry spoken outloud with the same beat and rhythm with sometimes music in the background. Rock still has some popularity. Normal kids today want melodies and ballads. Actual music with lyrics that can be understood. Old school songs as recorded are popular now. Good for them. Cassettes are back too, btw.

  8. Nobody masters their talents that well while always looking at their phone.

I applaud their dedication to something other than wasting their lives on dopamine hits from social media.

Learning an instrument and playing music should be this fun in every school program.
