Trump ‘Open’ to Bringing Back Insane Asylums: ‘Can’t Have These People Walking Around’

Breitbart

President Donald Trump has considered “reopening insane asylums” and argued that society “can’t have these people walking around” with severe mental illnesses, during a recent interview on his crime crackdown in Washington, DC.

The Daily Caller’s Reagan Reese interviewed him in the Oval Office on Friday, asking if he would “be open to the government reopening insane asylums for people with serious mental illness.”

“Yeah I would,” the president responded.

When Reese prompted further, Trump continued, “Well, they used to have them, and you never saw people like we had, you know, they used to have them. And what happened is states like New York and California that had them, New York had a lot of them. They released them all into society because they couldn’t afford it.”

“You know, it’s massively expensive. But we had, they were all over New York. I remember when I was growing up, Creedmoor. They had a place, Creedmoor, they had a lot of them, Bellevue, and they were closed by a certain governor,” Trump reflected. “And I remember when they did, it was a long time ago, and I said they didn’t release these people? And they did. They released them into society, and that’s what you have. It’s a rough, it’s a rough situation.” more

  1. “can’t have these people walking around”

The problem is that “these people” make up a really large segment of the population, easily identified as having a “D” marked on their ballot.

And it’s not just the dangerous. We should also be protected from the perpetually insane since their actions at the ballot box erode our safety, our institutions, and our traditions.

  2. I would expect we’ve become much better at identifying particular mental illnesses and matching care to those needs.

I’d start with mandator incarceration in drug facilities for the homeless addicts with mental health treatments for those with that added incapacity. They are not let out until drug free and monitored for years to keep them off the streets.

I’m tired of allowing people to lose themselves in addictions until death. We need to bring their bottom up a lot nearer to their current state with hard intervention rather than wait to see if they improve or die on the streets.

  3. “Because the KEEPERS are now more insane than the PATIENTS…”

Not if the facilities are all down in South America. Rich is right. Every last one of the will be registered Democrats. Hell bent on destroying traditional America.

  4. A slippery slope, to be sure. On one hand, we do not want the crazies to wander among us, but one thing we don’t want to see is granting authorities the ability to commit basically anyone they choose. A serious possibility for abuse exists, sort of like mail-in voting.

  5. SNS — It’s all so depressing. The Left has gutted anything that we remember as traditional mental illness healthcare. “Trans-genderism” aside, the mental health providers have been trained up to look at all mental illness through the lense of Critical Theory, meaning they don’t see “illness”, they see unique expression of one’s state of mind, and “affirm” the individual’s unique “choice”. Until that mess is straightened out, mental hospitals offer nothing in the way of actual mental health treatments.

  6. Let Joe Biden be first. From worst president to worst insane asylum resident.

Men in white coats and carrying nets: Mr. President, come with us sir.

Joe Biden: I’m not Mr. President….I’m Emperor Napoleon VI, and get your hands off me, man.
