Michael Barrow, a former linebacker for the New York Giants, has been arrested after allegedly punching his wife accidentally during a fight involving family members at a Florida airport.
Barrow, 55, was at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Tuesday when an argument with family members escalated into a full-on brawl. The former Giant took a swing at one family member, only to accidentally hit his wife, Shelley, in the face. I have permanent NFL and NBA fatigue, and their seasons are just getting started. I could care less anymore about either especially after the baseball playoffs and World Series are over from late October to March.
I watched my high school football team when I was in high school. I watched my college football team when I was in college. I watched my kids’ high school football team when I helped out with the marching band. I never saw a good reason after that to trundle downtown and shell out a fortune to watch grown men play a child’s game.
There are pastimes in my life which I avidly pursued and then grew tired of, so I do sympathize with those who have tried valiantly, and at some expense, to embrace the pro football culture and all that it entails, only to walk away from unsalvageable mess in exhausted disappointment.
