Daily Caller:
Joe Mitchell, a former Trump administration official, state lawmaker and founder of a nonprofit that recruits young conservatives to run for office, announced his campaign for an open Iowa U.S. House seat Monday.
Mitchell, 28, is running in a contested primary in Iowa’s 2nd congressional district to succeed Republican Iowa Rep. Ashley Hinson who is running for Senate. He would be the first Gen Z Republican elected to Congress if he wins his bid for the GOP-leaning northeast Iowa seat.
“I’m running for Congress because too many Iowans have been left behind by a broken political system that works for insiders and lobbyists, not for us,” Mitchell said in a statement. “For too long, politicians in Washington have wasted our tax dollars and cut backroom deals while working families pay the price.” more
I’ve heard this broken record for over sixty years.
IQ test, History test. Economics test. 2nd Amend test. Foreign policy test. Ties to FBI, CIA vetting. Stand on islam and Black Lives Matter. Should be required for all candidates current, former and pending.
My take on this through the decades is that even those that are the most genuine in their intentions end up having to deal with the realization that they have gotten themselves a seat at a cesspool of corruption and that if they want to get anything done at all, they will have to get their hands dirty.
““I’m running for Congress because too many Iowans have been left behind by a broken political system that works for insiders and lobbyists, not for us,””
Hey kid, let me give you some advice. Nobodies buying into this tired old “Vote for me and I shall set you free” bull shit anymore. Give this a try, I’m running for Congress because libtards suck and they’re wrecking my country. And I’m here to stop them.
OK fine, if he wins, he wins. Not against him as far as I know. But- Who is writing those statements of his? They’re cliché.
” …that works for insiders and lobbyists, not for us.”
WE KNOOOOOOW. Sheesh. We’ve heard it. Run that mess through quillbot or something and come up with something new.
I like @Brad’s take. These people running for whatever need to ask themselves this: how would Trump make this announcement? Then talk that way. The problem is that too many of these people running for office are too used to being mealymouthed instead of straight talkers.
I’m not sure what age Gen Z covers but most of the young people, 21 to 35, I come in contact with are conservatives. Especially the guys. An unintended consequence of the cell phone. They get their news from Joe Rogan.
All he needs is an eyepatch.
