WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate has confirmed 48 of President Donald Trump’s nominees at once, voting for the first time under new rules to begin clearing a backlog of executive branch positions that had been delayed by Democrats.

Frustrated by the stalling tactics, Senate Republicans moved last week to make it easier to confirm large groups of lower-level, non-judicial nominations. Democrats had forced multiple votes on almost every one of Trump’s picks, infuriating the president and tying up the Senate floor.

The new rules allow Senate Republicans to move multiple nominees with a simple majority vote — a process that would have previously been blocked with just one objection. The rules don’t apply to judicial nominations or high-level Cabinet posts. more

  1. The Democrats have been being deliberately and systematically weakened in preparation for these moves, September 10 they started scoring own goals at record pace and as a result have compressed the timeline on this type of move. The Republican establishment knows the score, they are on borrowed time and know damn well that any that frustrate moving the American people’s agenda forward are going to move to the front of the line when it comes time to clean out that nest of vipers. They don’t have any principles, they are duplicitous, back stabbing sonsabitches and are trying to keep their fucking grift going as long as possible and hoping to ride it out when it’s time to start picking them off.

  2. The Democrats began this when they altered the rules under Senator Shumer; too, Harry played fast and loose with the rules. Now they are/will whine about the unfairness of it all now that the shoe is on the other foot.
