Florida’s Department of Transportation (DOT) recently tore up the LGBT crosswalk on Miami Beach — a move which comes as the state removes political street art across the state.
Video shows the crosswalk being removed from the Ocean Drive entertainment district — a process which began over the weekend. ABC News notes that this process began “just two days after Miami Beach officials learned they had lost their appeal against the state order.”
“By Monday, the intersection was paved over in asphalt,” the outlet reported. more

I remember back in 1976 when I was in the military stationed in Panama. There was about 9 different military bases and all had numerous parade grounds. The first week I was there, I noticed crews of about 20 locals walking around the grounds, swinging machetes as they cut the grass. Now a rider mower could have done the same job in 20 minutes, which they spent all day on. But that would have been efficient; they weren’t after efficiency; the goal was to give as many people as possible jobs.
This boondoggle seems eerily similar. One guy with a can of paint could have accomplished that, which now requires 30 workers working all day, costing taxpayers more money than necessary.
Even in red states; waste, fraud, and redundancy are the order of the day.
My 82 Year Old father was unknowingly walking across one of those Crosswalks when I took a Photo of him dead center eating an ice cream. He had NO IDEA.
We sent that pic to his cousin in New Brunswick. Within Minutes it bounced around to Italy, USA, & Back to Him.
