A New Jersey man is being slapped with hate crime charges following his shocking arrest in Washington D.C.

Authorities with the Metropolitan Police Department claim the man, identified as 41-year-old Louis D. Geri, was reportedly “camped out in a green tent in front of the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C., around 5 a.m. on Sunday,” according to Fox News. As police worked to secure the area for Red Mass, they requested the man move his tent, and the situation immediately went sideways.

“You might want to stay back and call the federales,” he allegedly told an officer. “I have explosives…”

When an officer with the department’s bomb squad approached Geri, the suspect allegedly asked, “Do you want me to throw one out? I’ll test one out in the street. I have a hundred plus of them.” more
