  1. Pensacola has a Great beach and a superb Sheriff’s Dept. so no terrorist attacks in sight, plus a Governor who would rain down fire on anyone compromising Florida’s tourist business.

  2. Since I assume the Maldives govt prohibits tourists with guns, the Maldives govt can assume I’ll never set foot on their benighted beaches.

Hmm. But will they let you carry a cocked and locked spear gun?
Like, carry one in bars and restaurants? How about cop stations?

  3. Residents of the Maldives, for the most part, were, for centuries adherents to a comparatively benign form of Islam…until recently. Wahhabi/Salafi mosques and madrasas were built, leveraged by Saudi money, and students returned from overseas with radical ideas, and Al Jazeera has become a primary news and culture source, especially among the professional and administrative class.

If that hasn’t created a few home-grown terrorist cells and lone wolves, they can always be imported.

Any Muslim country or country with even a nominal Muslim population has the potential for violence toward unbelievers (including contrary, in the eye of the aggressor, Muslim sects and slackers).

Being wary of danger is not a phobia or an -ism. It is probably seen as a microaggression, as evidenced by accusations of islamophobia and racism, and threats of violence, but that just reinforces the need to be wary.

As the many idealistic acquiescent enablers tragically learned in those kibbutzim near Gaza and at the festival, you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t. Only a very public and well-evidenced conversion will keep one safe from threat…maybe.
