Students have raised concerns about the Founding Fathers’ ‘racist views’
Franklin & Marshall College, a private institution in Pennsylvania named after Benjamin Franklin and former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Marshall, is making plans to replace its two namesake mascots with one that is more “gender-neutral.”
The college recently established a Mascot Working Group to gather input and come up with three new mascot proposals to present for a vote to the campus community this winter, according to its website.
President Andrew Rich “has heard from students, faculty, staff, and alumni that we need a mascot that embodies our identity, brings energy to campus events, and builds a sense of pride and belonging,” the website states.
Currently, the Lancaster college’s mascots are its namesakes, CBS 21 News reports. However, the college also uses the Diplomats as a nickname.
“Many already think of the diplomat as our mascot,” the college website states. “Our goal is to give it a form that is fun, gender-neutral, and full of personality—a character that sparks connection, excitement, and a sense of belonging.” more

…well, if you want gender neurtal, you could have a young German girl for a mascot.
“Das Mädchen” is, unlike the weird way the Communists use “gender” for “sex”, ACTUALLY gender neutral as “gender” is the definite article before the noun in many foreign languages. Some, like Spanish, only have masculine and feminine (“El” being masculine and “La” being feminine), but Deutch has THREE for maximum leaning difficulty, with “Der” for masculine, “Die” for feminine…and “Das” for neutral.
…there are other choices, such as “Das Boot” so you can have a submarine mascot or “Das Frühstück” so you can be repped by eggs and (gasp!) bacon, but if they want to act like a bunch of spoiled, overly dramatic little girls, then the TRULY, ACTUALLY GENDER NEUTRAL “Das Mädchen” is the most honest way they can go.
…I can even recommend a statue for their “Das Mädchen” mascot.

My vote is for the amoeba. it is asexual non-binary colorless and has the exact level of intelligence as the average student at that dopey college. And the amoeba looks absolutely fabulous in a sombrero.

SNS: While it is counterintuitive that the German word for “girl” is neutral, that is because any word with the suffix “chen” is neutral.
But yeah, it is strange.
I sure am glad English does not get into that. When I try to study a language, if I get a translation wrong it is more because I got the article wrong as opposed to the word itself.
