The first chapter of Call of the Wild starts with Buck living on a gorgeous estate in California, protector and playmate of the family children. Jack London paints a beautiful picture of Buck’s idyllic life, before he is snatched away from it.
Of course by the end Buck wouldn’t have his life any other way.

Bernese Mtn. Dogs are so sweet! We had a Bernese named Bingley. He was so gentle with our young son who was 5 yrs old when we got Bingley as a little puppy. That dog was no watchdog though. 😆
I still miss him! 😭

Very nice photo. The Mom & Dad could saddle the dog and let the little girl ride it.

Who’s walking whom?
…I hope he’s a good boy and doesn’t light out suddenly after a naughty SQUIRREL!…
