When I listen to songs like this, I like to read along.
Maybe there are some others that do that too.
[Verse 1]
I tried to fit you in the walls inside my mind
I try to keep you safely inbetween the lines
I try to put you in the box that I’ve designed
I try to pull you down so we are eye to eye
[Chorus]
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world?
I try to take life back right out of the hands of the king of the world
How could I make you so small
When you’re the one who holds it all
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world
[Verse 2]
Just a whisper of your voice can tame the seas
So who am I to try to take the lead
Still I run ahead and think I’m strong enough
When you’re the one who made me from the dust
[Chorus]
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world?
I try to take life back right out of the hands of the king of the world
How could I make you so small
When you’re the one who holds it all
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world
[Bridge]
Ohhhh, you set it all in motion
Every single moment
You brought it all to me
And you’re holding on to me
[Chorus]
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world?
I try to take life back right out of the hands of the king of the world
How could I make you so small
When you’re the one who holds it all
When did I forget you’ve always been the king of the world
You will always be the king of the world
Harry, thanks for the beautiful song and posting the lyrics. I find myself lately late at night waking up and coming out into my living room and sitting down in my chair and praying and worshipping and thanking God for all that he has given me over my 72 years. I need it to get back to sleep in peace when strange dreams try to invade my mind while I am sleeping and take away my peace. I hope and pray that I am not the only one who feels this way because the closer that God draws near to me the more the enemy attacks my mind trying to distract me and keep me from God’s holy presence. And after an hour or so I can go back to sleep in peace for the rest of the night. Hallelujah, no weapon formed against me shall prosper because God is my shelter and refuge always no matter what happens ever.
Geoff- I’m 73 and have noticed that words seem to have more meaning. I find myself looking up lyrics and understanding them more than just listening to the poetry? an music.

You are not alone, Geoff.
This strangely occurs to people who have a variety of learning/skills and approaching the age of the 50s to 70s, but usually due to some memorized trauma period, such, as being at Ground Zero during 9/11. Take advantage of it!
I was at Ground Zero (9/11) for four days. Afterwards (2002), for the next 10 years I composed, played, recorded, produced and distributed 11 CD albums, and three Singles that are playing still, Internationally (the electronic instrumentation is REAL!).
The instructions came to me (from nowhere) so simple to my hands and mind, yet I had no experience at all (other than playing music) before this. It was as something (or someone) was showing me how to do all this all those years that I could not stop until it was “done”.
It is still today on many Streaming sites, such as, Spotify, Amazon, etc. etc. as the Synthonic Orchestra, Band and Choir.
… Check it out and don’t ignore. There really is something out there overseeing us, or I am just totally crazy.

As Christians we are not the crazy ones. I was saved and delivered from the craziness of the world during the Jesus Revolution of the early to mid 70’s and was filled with the Holy Spirit during a Saturday night youth meeting at my church 50 years ago in mid-October of 1975 when 2 friends of mine prayed for me and my life has never been the same since then. That night afterwards we all went out for pizza at a local pizza parlor, and I was lit up like a Christmas tree with the glory of the Lord upon me. I was able to speak in tongues, and I still do when I’m praising and worshipping God. The crazy ones are those who still haven’t accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. And now 50 years later I am starting to see a new revival and probably 4th great awakening happen amongst the younger generation just as the Jesus Revolution saved a lot of us refugees from the craziness of the late 60’s and early to mid 70’s. I don’t know where I would’ve ended up with my life if I hadn’t been saved back then as well as my late wife, it would’ve been a completely different story for both of us as well as for my children and grandchildren with 2 more on the way the middle of next May. My oldest daughter is expecting a boy and my daughter in law another girl. That’ll make 6 granddaughters and 2 grandsons.

I’ve been listening to the St. Jude Novena on Hallow. Second day. He’s the apostle of Jesus who is known as the patron saint of hopeless causes. Second day. Came here and found this wonderfully spiritual post. Thank you to all of you. I need this now in my life.

geoff the aardvark, you are not alone. I completely understand what you are experiencing. I’ve had to deal with it myself, including the intrusive disturbing dreams. Proof as a Faith-filled Christian you are effectively “standing in the gap” and persuading others to choose Christ and you are under attack. Satan’s works are being hampered and his influence is weakened and he’s of course, angry with you – Who cares, right. We don’t fear him.
The spiritual warfare is intense, Ephesians 6:10-20, as you obey God. Remember to read aloud this scripture when at battle and you can’t sleep;
Psalm 91, The Holy Bible NKJV
1. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6. Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Yes, no weapon formed against you will prosper – Isaiah 54:17.
Rejoice! geoff the aardvark. You are making Satan squirm, even better, Rejoice because you know and please God, Abba-Our Father Most High.
Peace to you in Christ, dear brother.
