Newsweek-
A woman in Mississippi shot and killed one of the three Rhesus monkeys that escaped after a truck carrying research animals overturned on Interstate 59 last week. Jessica Bond Ferguson, a mother of five, fired at the monkey early Sunday morning after spotting it in her yard near Heidelberg, Mississippi.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident and noted that the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks took possession of the animal. more

No comments about “Mississippi Queen” ? Mountain would be disappointed.
Has the left media gone into a hissy fit yet?
Thas ray-cyst! or sumptin …
Every driver should be taught to get out and start spraying gunfire everywhere in case of an accident.
Too bad there isn’t a 2nd Amendment like there is in America where citizens can get out and pump them full of lead.
This whole thing reminds me of the Dustin Hoffman movie Outbreak
That was actually pretty good shooting. Those monkeys are small and fast.
I hate monkeys
I feel bad for the monkeys. They didn’t volunteer to be caged and tortured medical research subjects.
For many years, there was a tribe of escaped rhesus monkeys near Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale. They harmed no one, and were a delightful occasional sight. (For unknown reasons, the numbers have dwindled, perhaps raccoon prey.)
And no, rhesus monkeys aren’t “dangerous” nor were these ones apparently “infacted” with anything.
At any rate, those who think killing these little creatures is a thrilling excuse to shoot off their firearms need to go hunt edible targets or join the army.
She should ride shotgun on the NY subway.
I lived less than a mile from the Yerkes primate center for 30 years. I kept a shotgun handy in case I ever saw a monkey.
