As we’ve for many months been documenting, the Western mainstream media continues the trend of turning on Ukraine, and on President Zelensky in particular, now that it’s clear that ‘victory’ against Russia will not be a reality. It seems that every time Ukraine’s military suffers major setback and defeat at a strategic location in the east – as is again unfolding currently – the unusually ‘negative’ MSM articles suddenly appear.
It wasn’t very long ago, and especially during the opening couple years of war, the MSM treated any criticisms of Zelensky or the Ukrainian Army as totally off-limits. This was the comically absurd era of concert halls in Europe canceling famous classical Russian ballads, or op-eds calling for reading courses to ban Dostoevsky. But fast-forward to late 2025 and Politico is out with a story entitled The dark side of Zelenskyy’s rule.
The story documents how Ukrainian society, and especially what’s left of the ‘accepted opposition’ (after long ago Zelensky banned all opposition political parties deemed too ‘pro-Russian’ in a country where some one-third of the population has Russian as their first language) is slowly turning on the US/EU-backed leader. more
Ukraine was a losing proposition right from the word go! And it’s been fought for all the wrong reasons. How can the NATO nations look in their respective mirrors knowing that they have destroyed 100’s of thousands of lives to protect the most corrupt nation in Europe. I couldn’t be more disgusted in our so called allies and I pray Trump pulls the support from this outrage!

The Russians seem patient and in for the long haul. When it realizes that the Uke armed forces are pretty much over and done, it pick up the piece of eastern Ukraine it wants, and declare victory. It would be insane for it to annex any more of Ukraine, which seems very anti-Russian. it would give the Russians nothing but headaches.

When it’s prog vs prog and you are yesterday’s news the best possible outcome for yesterday’s news is an escape into anonymity. Once the opportunists recognize no value in further exploitation of what you had to offer they turn on a dime and see what they can get from focusing their resentment on those they are no longer able to exploit by atttaching themselves to your lost cause.

Cheney pronounced Chaney needs to be properly pronounced with a long E as in the town of Cheney (Cheeney) Wash, home to Eastern Wash. University. I know that I’m being nitpicky but there is no A in Cheney. The name Dick should be removed from use as a name for boys just because so many of them turn out to be real dicks.
