Ford to sell used vehicles on Amazon, joining Hyundai

DETROIT (Reuters) – Amazon (AMZN.O) shoppers can browse and buy Ford Motor (F.N) vehicles on the e-commerce platform starting on Monday, joining Hyundai in adding online options for customers who want to avoid dealership lots.

The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker and the tech company said customers will be able to shop a participating dealer’s inventory of used vehicles directly through Amazon.

The program is focused on Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas to start, and will initially offer only certified pre-owned vehicles, which are used models that pass rigorous inspections and are sold with specific warranties.

Automakers have been trying to provide smoother, online-focused shopping experiences for those wary of spending hours in dealerships. Tesla (TSLA.O) sells electric vehicles directly to consumers online, while Ford and General Motors (GM.N) are bound by U.S. state laws to sell through franchise dealers. more

Yup. We got yer free enterprise legislatively captured market right here. Ain’t crony capitalism grand?

But the article gives us good news. Nibbling away…

  2. Good. I hate talking to car dealerships. The slipperiest con men out there. Good gawd, even prison guards are easily outmaneuvered. Years ago we went to car brokers. No gimmicks, no nonsense, no surprises.

  3. Automakers have been trying to provide … shopping experiences for those wary of spending hours in dealerships.

BULLSHIT. They could’ve/should’ve stopped this aeons ago.

“Let me talk to my Sales Manager.” Bite me.

  4. My brother always bought Fords and when they broke I would buy them off him cheap and fix them up. My go to was GMC pickups but after leaking head gaskets, two failed Mexican Transmissions, leaking rear seals, blown AC compressor, failed power brake assist, Disgustingly bad poppet fuel injection on 3 failed trucks in 6 years with the Check Engine Light that is permanently on, I took a chance on a high end 2016 Ford F150 XLT.
The one and only problem I have ever had is I had to replace the windshield wiper blades. SADLY the Idiots at Ford no longer offer a decent F150 with 8 foot bed and I don’t want to chance a GM truck that goes from 300 RPM to 4500 RPM at ZERO Miles Per Hour. Chevy is shit, GMC is shit, now Ford is shit. I don’t want to waste my money on a Ram. I drive a truck because I have a farm and I am 6 foot 4 inches tall and I don’t like my head frozen in a 45 degree angle stuck to the ceiling of some chintzy car.

  5. Huh, yeah, Fords are crap. 🤣

My ’15 F350 has almost 200,000 miles on it and still hauls my 40 foot Toy Hauler (16k lbs) like a champ. Oil tests come back great.

Tell me all about your “reliable” Toyota or Nissan doing that. 😝

In 10 years I’ve invested only about $10k keeping it going.
