A 7-Episode Soap Opera Was Filmed Inside IKEA WITHOUT THE STORE’S KNOWLEDGE.

COTR: Executive Producer Matt tipped us off to this amazingly awesome story about a group of people who filmed an entire video series inside of an IKEA.

Without IKEA knowing.

This happened between 2009 and 2010, and the show was called IKEA HEIGHTS.  It was filmed in the Burbank, CA IKEA location, and you can watch the first episode right here.

  1. Cookie cutter storyline of cookie cutter lives inside a warehouse of cookie cutter furniture. Employees so robotic they have no idea a troop of actors is filming using the displays as props. Shoppers even less aware.

It’s like they’re inside an AI hologram inside a tv show in a virtual world run by really uncreative, bored advanced aliens.

  2. I got up to episode 5. It as pretty funnt till then. Will finish later. Been to Ikea twice and I don’t doubt people could get away with even more shenanigans than just filming mock murders.

The Swedish meatball bits cracked me up.

  3. For those who haven’t watched any of them (yet), each episode is just 5 minutes long. Episode 6 is particularly funny and would have been the perfect place to end. So funny that they were able to do this.

  4. Bullshit! The IKEA store had to be in on it. They have loss prevention constantly monitoring suspicious activity. No way they could have filmed one episode much less a “season”.
