American Thinker:
A few days ago, a dismaying story about woke-minded universities’ removal of portraits honoring distinguished medical innovators and Nobel prize winners from their walls, solely based on the fact that they all, or most, were white male, was making the rounds.
Here’s a stunning good tweet in response to the logic of that and why it’s a problem from Chloe S. Valdary, a young black writer for The Atlantic:
Which makes absolutely perfect sense. Who among us hasn’t, as a child or young adult, idolized someone who wasn’t exactly like them? more here
I liked George Washington Carver. Because I like peanut butter. That guy though…..that guy lurved peant butter. What did he figure out, 99 seperate ideas that got patented or something? I just liked his story.
I also liked Sacajawea. Both her and her son led kick ass lives trottin’ around old timey Amereekee.
I was a big fan of Yogi Bear……
MLK said “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
I wonder what he would have thought about this?
Probably that Diggy won this thread.
Dr. Thomas Yeh, pioneer in open heart surgery, had an opportunity to meet and attend a lecture, 1968.
Watched him experiment on dogs with open heart surgery.
Has 3 children, all MDs.
Watch the Youtube, pretty inspiring, I chose well.

This sad and ridiculous episode in American history will, itself, no doubt, be scrubbed from our memories (and history books) at some future point because of how idiotic it is.
I once heard a white teacher decry all the “old, white, dead men” — giants of Western civilization and American history. When she got to Shakespeare I knew she was a total crackpot.
In her view, Jefferson’s Voyage of Discovery would have never happened if an indian woman hadn’t made it all possible. My, my, my. An indigenous person of color *and* a woman! Talk about hitting all the right “diversity” notes. I’m surprised anyone under 30 knows the names of Lewis and Clark.
Remove all those Whites from history, actually remove what they accomplished and stood for, and you remove civilization.
When you can’t compete in the arena of ideas, just tear down the establishment and re-write history according to yer own warped agenda! It’s the Communist way!
Should white peeps forgo blood plasma because Charles Drew M.D. was negro?
Guess we should forget about him because he was never found on the couch in front of the TV sucking on a bottle of Muscatel whining about whitey.

Around here in Eastern Washington every kid knows the names of Lewis and Clark because of Lewis and Clark HS located in downtown Spokane for over a century since the early 1900’s. Teddy Roosevelt laid the cornerstone on LC HS back in 1910, just a little bit of trivia. Also Lewiston, Idaho is named after Merriwether Lewis and nearby just across the Snake River Clarkston, Wash. is named after William Clark. Then there is the Clark Fork River in Montana, Lewistown Montana, Clark County in Wash. State etc. etc. all over the Western part of the U.S. Lewis and Clark’s Journal’s should be required reading in HS as well as Steven Ambrose’s book Undaunted Courage about the Lewis and Clark expedition. If they hadn’t explored this part of the country when they did in the very early 1800’s Washington and Oregon might just possibly be British. It was a win/win for America and all of us in the great Pacific Northwest. And I went to Sacajawea Junior High school on Spokane’s South hill in the mid 60’s, it’s still there by the way.
The goat fornicators of Islam are fond of doing the same thing, must be why most of them are still living in the 3rd century.

…not ALL the right notes, that’s not “woke” enough now. But, if “she” was a TRANS woman AND a lesbian abortionist Muslima who espoused Marxist views a half century before Marx. THEN you’d have a TRUE pioneer that…well, they’d STILL find something wrong with because they are never happy people, but they’d allow her to be taught as a hero for five minutes before the NEXT hate comes along…
Good old George Orwell’s 5 minute hate described in a nutshell. If you don’t teach the past no one knows the past. Or Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World which is ever scarier in it’s dystopian description of a world cleansed of all memories about the past just like the Soviet Union, The French Revolution and Pol Pot in Cambodia in the mid 70’s. Not a single one of these ungodly visions of society and humanity has ever succeeded and never will.
Remember back in the 90s when all the white kids got rid of their Air Jordans and their #23 basketball jerseys because Michael Jordan was black and therefore didn’t adequately represent the history of their people?
Me neither.
Whenever I started with a new company and I saw pictures of the folks on the walls, the first thing that ever popped in my head was, “How do I get a picture of me up there?”
Gosh. I never reflexively factored race into the equation.
@TN Tuxedo
I loved watching Jordan play. I tried to mimic his moves and his style of play.
To this day, I still play pick up basketball. I still watch MJ highlights on YouTube, much to my kids dismay…..
Never once occurred to me, as a white kid, to hate Jordan because he was black. Has never entered my thoughts today.
Because I don’t care what race or creed someone is, only if we have shared values…
Whoever owns the past owns the present; and whoever owns the present owns the future.

muddjuice – good point! To be able to look past skin color and play together as a team was always one of the key benefits of team sports, but guess whut? That gets in the way of the Left trying to divide the nation down lines of colors, so they’ve invented new ways to inject grievance where it doesn’t belong. A real good example is the NFL and the whole take-a-knee thing! A few short years ago people weren’t wondering about skin color. Just the team, wins, losses and how they played… until we’re forced to somehow consider race as a real issue, and then with the special irony that White players are a vast minority! Crazy!
I have an old tape from 1984 (co-incidentally) of a commercial I made at the radio station where I worked. It is for the Seattle Super Sonics. At the end of it I talk about how the Chicago Bulls are coming to town with some new kid who is getting a lot of attention for his playing ability. His name: Michael Jordon.
My thinking is: If you are Woke, fuck off.
Do the liberals ever become embarrassed by their side’s intolerance, by their side’s inability to rationally discuss an issue?
What pictures?
I don’t see any pictures.
Gotta be a mistake. There ain’t no pictures.
They must have got amalgarhythymed.
