The dog is training the boy and the boy understands the signals. My Golden would, on a icy cold, but sunny winter day go out and lay under the leaf-less apple tree in my yard looking for shade from the sun.

It reminds me of one of my favorite comic strips Red and Rover by Brian Basset.

It reminds me of when I was a kid and I’d take our dog down to the creek in summer and let her drink the fresh water and take a swim. She was a beautiful, sweet dog.
My dad named her Patsy, after the county singer Patsy Cline who was a favorite of his.
