A Bridge Too Far: EV Explosions?

PJM: The lies regarding EVs abound everywhere on the Internet. The Left is busy once again creating an apocryphal reality. Entry after entry assures us that EVs are safer and cheaper to run than gas-powered vehicles. One site, for example, insists that EV sales are on fire, but not EVs. My own research, conversations with EV owners, and inquiries at dealerships have proven otherwise.  more

  1. Not mentioned is the pollution of an EV fire with its associated toxic gasses and particulate pollution. I’ve often wondered what one EV fire equates to in terms of the pollution caused by ICE cars. For instance, how many ICE cars does it take to equal the pollution of one EV fire?
    A million?
    More??

Aaaannnd BTW, 4,000 gallons of water does NOT put out an EV fire.
It only mitigates the damage around it! EV batteries burn underwater!

  2. I’ve been following certain car review people for many years and lately there’s been a theme among all of them. They get an EV to review and open it up like, “This is an approachable, affordable. reasonably priced, mid-size CUV/SUV [enter specific vehicle here]. Gone are the days of ancient gasoline cars, this is a perfect replacement in an EV package.”

Then more blah blah blah about how great the car is, and finally onto the price: $75,000! For a KIA or some other shit brand. Add on tax and financing (because it’s NOT AFFORDABLE) and it’s over $100k for what essentially amounts to a modern day underpowered mini van.

When did $100K for a shit car become the definition of affordable? They are basically touting every EV as “luxury” to justify the price. It’s got an iPAD, or something, so you get so much more!!! FFS, no, you actually get so much less, give me buttons and knobs like a normal car!

  3. Asked the hard core liberal neighbor how much it cost to add an EV charging circuit to his garage. He shrugged his shoulders and said it wasn’t as expensive as he thought. Never did answer the question. So I asked if his charging system is government subsidized. Not expecting a Christmas card from them.

  4. Nothing like traveling with your family sealed in a bomb. This is what happens when government just sells the public on something they know little to nothing about. Vaccine comes to mind.

  5. ecp – Real buttons and knobs give you tactile feel so that you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to operate. Not so with screen and menu technology! GM learned the hard way with their 80s era Buick that had a B&W monitor with a touchscreen located low on the console with all controls except lights and turn signals managed by it. You had to take your eyes off the road to look down and see what you were operating. People were driving into ditches just to operate the fan or temperature controls!!

  6. I read the Bentley exploded on the Rainbow bridge likely had an uncorrected defect, the car was under recall. The defect might have caused acceleration even though the driver was likely standing on the brakes. The gas take ripped apart by hitting the concrete bollard, huge fireball. Not explosives. The car had 650 horsepower.

Imagine evacuating South Florida ahead of a cat 4 or 5 hurricane in an EV. You wouldn’t get very far.

“Imagine evacuating South Florida ahead of a cat 4 or 5 hurricane in an EV. You wouldn’t get very far.”

…and your dead car blocks everyone ELSE.

Powerless EVs don’t push too good.

    And sometimes not at ALL.

“If your automatic car doesn’t come with the neutral setting, then you shouldn’t push your car. This is as you could end up damaging the motor of the car.”
