  1. Tiger Mom!

US history should be taught by immigrants. They appreciate what the last few generations of spoiled brats cannot understand is ‘American privilege.’

  2. 25 years ago I was recommended a book by a fellow whose wife’s parents were technical professionals (medicine and engineering) in China during the Cultural Revolution. They were part of the “sent down” who were reassigned to the countryside to harvest crops because of their “privilege of education”. That book was “Life and Death in Shanghai” by Nien Cheng. In it she tells the story of her six years of solitary confinement in Shanghai’s Detention Center #1 and the horrors of Mao’s Red Guard (equivalent to “anti-fa”/BLM”). Having travelled in many Asian countries, incuding China, I thought I was more aware than the average American about our freedoms and was ever-grateful to always come home from these places. But I was not prepared for Cheng’s story in light of growing up post-Nixon and the reopening of China to the West. I was embarrassed by my naivety. If you know anything about the run-up to a communist or fascist take-over, you’ll be very concerned about what we are seeing in our society and especially in our learning institutions. We must fight with every fiber of our being to turn this battle — whether you have children in schools or not.

  3. She is ignurnt. Everybody KNOWS that wasn’t real communism, it was right wing fashionism. She needs to be silenced, she offends me.

  4. …something else that I found rivetting in Cheng’s book was her numerous descriptions of the neighborhood “Struggle Sessions” in which those ratted-out by their neighbors — usually for extremely petty offenses — were hustled on down to the town square where they spent hours denouncing themselves and apologizing for their so-called class privileges. It became so bizarre and twisted that even the poorest, most ignorant people (who should have been classified as “the people”) were made to denounce themselves. But we don’t have to go very far back in history to see the same thing in Dickens’ Tale of Two Cities and the street theater of the guillotine and the unwashed mob cheering the sight of public humiliation of those their rotten, jealous hearts wished to see tortured and demeaned.

Beware that unfriendly neighbor who’s always rude to you.
