‘A Devastating Impact’: Harris’s Silence On Key Biden Policy Leaves American Farmers In The Lurch

Daily Caller: American farmers are still waiting for answers from Vice President Kamala Harris on a Biden administration policy that could have detrimental effects to their livelihood.

President Joe Biden’s administration was set to ban menthol cigarettes just before April 2024, until concerns arose that such a move could have negative political implications. The administration has since paused progress on the ban, though the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) top tobacco official has indicated that they are still planning to implement the rule. While Harris has not clarified where she stands on the issue, tobacco farmers in North Carolina, who the Daily Caller spoke to, are worried about what could happen to their farms if the vice president goes through with the ban. more

  1. Think about how arbitrary banning menthol cigarettes is. That shouldn’t be legal to do anywhere, to do something so specific while ignoring everything similar. Does the president really have that authoritah?

  2. “Kamala, will you ban fracking?”
    “Yes”
    Plastic straws”
    “Yes”
    “Guns”
    “Yes”
    “Menthol cigarettes?”
“I was raised in a middle class family…”

  3. Individuals have enough information to decide whether to smoke or use any kind of tobacco product. Let them decide if menthol cigarettes should continue to be made and sold or not by buying or rejecting them.

Way before the big anti-smoking brigade got on their soapboxes to yell about the health effects of smoking, people called cigarettes “cancer sticks” and “coffin nails”, and the resulting cough “smoker’s caugh”. People have known about the effects of smoking for a long time. A person who smokes due to a private decision at least doesn’t cause the death of another innocent person, as it does in an abortion seeker’s decision to kill the child within her.

FDA, keep out of it. At least, as we would like to see with abortion, let the individual states make the decision. Seems fair to me.

The pause in the Biden admin move to ban menthol cigs is just a political ploy to get black smokers to vote democrat.

Kamala: Yes, I think I get it. If we let those smoking black Afro-American guys have their menthol cigarettes, we’ll get them voting democrat for the next 60 years. Maybe 100 years. Shit, maybe 200 years.

“Does the president really have that authoritah?”

…and have we really resolved so many of the nations more pressing problems that there’s seriouly time for the President of the United States to worry about what cigarettes taste like?

  5. The tobacco farmers need to play the chorus from Flowers on the wall by the Statler brothers. Counting flowers on the wall, that don’t bother me at all, playing solitaire till dawn with a deck of 51, smoking cigarettes and watching Capt. Kangaroo, now don’t tell me I’ve nothing to do.
