A teenage girl saved her two-year-old sister from their mother’s alleged attempt to drown the younger child in a bathtub at their home in Albion, Michigan, local authorities reported Saturday.
The 15-year-old girl, who is the eldest of four siblings, called 911 for help at about 10:30 a.m., according to a Facebook press release from the Albion Department of Public Safety (ADPS). Public safety officers and law enforcement from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the home and kicked open a locked door as they heard noise from within. Inside, an ADPS officer found the apparent mother of the children holding the two-year-old girl underwater in the bathtub. more here
“Albion’s Public Safety Chief Scott Kipp commended the officers present at the scene for their “quick response and decisive actions” which “helped to save the life of the two-year-old child,” according to the press release.”
…I’m normally not a fan of boosting someone specifically trained to save a life for saving a life, but while cops do that its not really what they hired in for. Plus, this was a SUPER messed-up situation, busting a door and seeinga stabbed toddler being drown with a crazy lady and other poisoned kid nearby. Pretty giant shit sandwich to consume all at once, so kudos indeed for handling the situation, not freaking out, and not killing the “mom” out of hand (althogh maybe the last would have been good. I’m in Southern Ohio you see, not far from where this ABSOLUTE piece of shit murdered three of his own kids in cold blood, the three yo in his mother’s arms, and calmly sat down on the porch to wait for the cops. This shit was a mile from my house and God bless the Sheriffs who had to deal with three freshly murdered children and their murderer all at once. I could say more b/c I know some locals who know some stuff, but I’ll leave it at that for now)

The vast majority of children killed by a parent are killed by the mother. I was acquainted with a woman who killed five of her children before killing herself.
