A Tesla Smartphone Is Not an Idle Threat

RedState: In what I suspect is a spate of misinformed zealotry, Apple has threatened to remove the Twitter app from its App Store. At least, according to Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

This is all part of the effort by left-wing zealots to “punish” Twitter for proposing to end censorship based on political leanings. Mr. Musk said that, if pressed, he would launch his own line of phones in response. Should Apple CEO Tim Cook take such a threat seriously, or can he laugh it off?

I think he’d best take it very seriously.

In Tesla, Elon Musk has the only ‘tech’ brand name that comes close to Apple in terms of panache. A Tesla Phone actually has a chance of becoming The Next Big Thing. More worrisome for Apple, Tesla could realistically blossom into a complete lifestyle brand with phones, tablets, home security… all the toys. And Musk already has the car, something Apple has been tinkering with in a “skunk works” for years. more

  1. I think I’d buy one.
For one thing, I like what Elon is doing these days, especially if it pokes a finger in the eye of the Hi Tech Mastodons!
For another I think his organization has the horsepower to support such an endeavor!
Third, old fashioned competition improves the product and drives prices down.

  2. I meant to add this to my post above: “Musk also has Something Interesting that only he has, in the form of a nearly-completed worldwide network of communications satellites in low Earth orbit. This may or may not be applicable to smartphones; I am not privy to the ‘feeds and speeds’ of Starlink. At a minimum, he has a way to offer ‘no dead zones… anywhere’ that would be unique in the industry.”

  3. I have to say that if I were a billionaire I would be a force to be reckoned with.
Just like Michael Jordan, I would be fueled by irrational petty spite & vindictiveness.
Cross me motherfuckers and find out.

Alas…and lucky for them, I am but a peasant

  4. Mr. Hahn undersold the hell out of the threat Musk poses to Apple. Space X ring a bell? How about Star Link. For Christ sake Musk already has his own Satellite Internet Company.
It’s such a natural progression I’d b shocked if Musky hasn’t already drawn up the biz plans in anticipation of this amateur move.

  5. As if it isn’t already apparent…
Only trust a Loco with an avatar.
Avatars are like a Twitter “blue check mark”
    It means I’m legit.

    Sorry Brad… I don’t make the rules

  6. If Elon came out with a phone I would give immediate and serious consideration to changing. I’m usually reluctant to jump on the 1st generation of anything, but this would get my attention.

  7. Apple has a Quandry Basket of Trials and Tribulations ahead.
    Here’s How

They remove the Twitter App and Prove they are rotten

    OR

They allow the App an do everything they have learned so far to downgrade, downplay and otherwise drown out any compitition with shadow bans and shadow plays and puppet stuffs

In a just world, Apple would go for broke and ban it just so we can watch how a real GO signal is sent.

    Do it Apple
    Do It
    Please
