With a little practice I could put a bullet in a six-inch diameter circle offhand at 200 yards. I was at the range last weekend fire forming 17 Ackley Bee cases and shooting into an inch and a half inch groups at two bucks. These cases are necked down and the necks and shoulder annealed. Brad is right, 200 yards with iron sights is achievable. When I was a kid I’d shoot squirrels at 100 yards using a .22LR and open sights. I didn’t hit often at that range but I got close, and I was better at the end of summer than the beginning. This shot is within the envelope of a practiced amateur.

The problem, as I see it, is that in this battle we are at a disadvantage because the other side is playing by different rules. Equity and fair play would demand that we start taking out their leaders but that’s not going to happen because we are sane, moral, and law-abiding. So we are left to the mercies of the lunatic left who feed off of violence just like this, as evidenced by all the social media posts that celebrate this death and want more of it.
What is the answer? I honestly don’t know, which causes even more despondency and frustration because men are hard-wired to fix any problem when faced by it.

I’ve got firearms in my home, but I don’t have carry. I did the training and sent an app to the OC Sherif but never heard back. I think the Calif. State government does not allow it anymore.
But the Burnym stun gun is an alternate that I can carry anywhere. For others like me, a stun gun can immobilize an attacker such as the SOB that killed the Ukraine girl. In her case, however, the murderer attacked from behind her, she didn’t see it coming, and had no way to defend herself.
Like what happened to Charlie today, it was a shameful tragedy.

My daughter was shooting an Anschutz Achiever with iron sights prone at a reduced target at 50 at practice a couple days ago. 1/2 inch ten ring and two inch nine ring.
Now, mind you she was practicing and not using match ammo. She was shooting CCI 22LR SV. An Achiever is a capable rifle, but not state of the art by any means. She shot five or six targets that have six bullseyes on each. I don’t recall any shot falling outside the nine ring. This is with an iron sighted smallbore rifle.
I other words all shots fell within two inches at 50 yards, four inches at 100 yards or eight inches at 200 yards and most were centered around or in the ten ring. I can do that with my old Stevens 414 Armory with iron sights on it. I’m not so sure I could keep up with her in a match though given my 66 year old eyes. But I’m sure I could keep every shot in the nine ring shooting that rifle. I can shoot a possible using any number of scoped smallbore rifles here prone. That means all of my shots would be in the ten ring.
I could easily better that with a dozen centerfire rifles that are sitting within twenty feet of me. Easily.
So, dispense with the bullshit.
