EAG: AFFTON, Mo. – Steven Brotherton, superintendent of Missouri’s Affton school district, said in 2015 that “Our largest expense is our human resources, with 75 percent of the budget going toward salaries and benefits.”
A little more than a year later, the Affton school board put two proposals on the ballot that would have increased taxes for average property owners in the district by more than $200 per year, according to CallNewspapers.com.
One of the stated reasons for the revenue request was to “maintain the ability to pay teachers a competitive salary,” the news report said.
So just how much do teachers in the Affton school district make?
There’s more to the answer than people might guess.
I vote NO on every school budget increase. Screw the worthless bastards, look at what we get for our money.
Yep – talk about getting paid for complete incompetence…
Yes, what’s the quality of the product. Can the “graduates read and write, and at what level. If it’s on par with the last 50 years, fire the parasites, incl. school board, and local politicians.
Let the free market rule.
Guess stealing milk money is beyond them now.

And the school unions pay off politicians to keep their gravy train. Pay teachers lavishly to dumb down the kids who, in turn vote democrat. It’s a vicious cycle.
Heh. ONE county in MD:
Budget “is 1.14 billion recommended operating budget [that] includes $15.5 million to fund a full step increase for all eligible employees”
80.6% goes to salaries, wages and benefits.

81K students.
There are portions of five school districts in my county (population of 36000). School superintendents are paid between 130000 and 180000 plus benefits. They have assistants and secretaries. How much work does a superintendent do for that salary? There is more wrong with the public school system than just the teachers.
Once they found out that they had unrestricted access to you wallet/purse it was the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Why would they stop now that they are just getting warmed up! But hey, it’s for the chiluns isn’t it?
What is wrong with you heartless monsters?
Those poor children aren’t going to learn about the 27+ imaginary sexes, or proper fake pronoun selection – without professionally brainwashed teachers from an urban university, now are they?
The kids might grow up to actually be sane. It that what you really want?
My local school board is full of retired teachers with kids who are teachers. There’s never a pay hike or new building that gets voted down.
I wish that I had a local board or lobby in congress working for me to get paid more and work less….
For a phucking city of 20k? That’s ridiculous.
