Passengers were forced to evacuate a Pakistan International Airlines plane at Manchester Airport after a woman opened one of the emergency exits, mistaking it for the door to the washroom, the U.K. Sun reports.
While the plane was still parked on the runway, the mix-up caused panic and confusion when the emergency exit chute automatically deployed triggering safety and evacuation protocols.
As the aircraft no longer had an emergency chute, the airline had to reduce the number of people onboard. The plane took off for Islamabad seven hours with 38 fewer passengers.
An investigation found the plane’s emergency chute also deployed by mistake a day earlier because of a lack of staff, The Express Tribune reported. more here
