Alaska GOP Is Weighing Options On Murkowski

The Alaska Republican Party is in the process of determining what, if any, action should be taken against Sen. Lisa Murkowski after she voted against confirming Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on Saturday.

The state Republicans are weighing the options on whether or not to withdraw support from the Alaska senator, Tuckerman Babcock, the Alaska GOP chairman, told The Associated Press. Murkowski was the only Republican senator to defect from the party and oppose Kavanaugh’s nomination. The committee is also considering requesting that Murkowski abstain from seeking re-election when her term ends in 2022.

Republicans in Alaska were reportedly outraged over her decision, according to Babcock. But Murkowski told the AP that she has only able to do her job as a Senator because she was not concerned with the political backlash.   read more

  1. “…able to do her job as a Senator because she was not concerned with the political backlash.”

So much for representing the will of her constituents. which is her TRUE job as a senator.

Well, that didn’t work so well LAST time, did it? I think they’ll have to threaten her dog or something like that to get her to take her grubby paws off of the reins of whatever power she thinks she has.

  3. I think I remember, as a non-Alaskan, that her family has a loooong history of political position and corruption in Alaska. It’s amazing to me how many interpretations of the meaning of the word “conscience” there are…

Didn’t Sarah Palin take out Murkowski’s father for his participation in some oil scam and other misgovernment when he was Governor? Sounds a little like the old political families in Louisiana.

  4. Murkowski is hereditary ruling class. You can’t get rid of her, sorry.

Her “present” vote was a courtesy less to Daines than to Manchin, who’s now not on the Democrat hook for having cast the deciding vote.

  5. I’m with The Good General, hoping we don’t have to wait until 2022 for Palin to move into the Senate.

But, Murkowski’s toast, one way or another. ….Lady in Red

  6. Murkowski has been consistent, no principles, no integrity and to hell with the Alaskan voters.
She’s not even a RINO, she’s all that is referred to as “The Establishment”.

Will you let us know when and where Sarah Palin sets up her campaign HQ, please? I have a campaign contribution for her.
As they say, beauty may only be skin deep, butt ugly goes clear to the bone.
BTW, has her son grown up yet?

That would be a democracy. That’s why we live in a republic. You filthy peasant.

  9. She ran as an independent against the Republican candidate, right? I can see why she feels no allegiance to them. The people really did elect her as a write-in.

I despise her. She’s never been a Republican at heart, just for convenience.

What does it really take to take her out? “No Republican support” doesn’t seem that much of a threat.
