ZeroHedge: Over the past month, technology companies have laid off tens of thousands of employees. And the momentum in layoffs only appears to be worsening.
According to a new report via NYTimes this morning, Amazon could add to the count this week as approximately 10,000 people in corporate and technology jobs will be slashed, in what could be the most significant job cut in the company’s history.
People with direct knowledge of the layoff plan said job cuts would be focused on Amazon’s devices organization, including the voice-assistant Alexa, its retail division, and human resources.
“The total number of layoffs remains fluid. But if it stays around 10,000, that would represent roughly 3 percent of Amazon’s corporate employees and less than 1 percent of its global workforce of more than 1.5 million, which is primarily composed of hourly workers,” NYTimes said.
A deteriorating macroeconomic backdrop led America’s second-largest employer to announce a hiring freeze in early October (read: here). Amazon recruiters were instructed to halt all hiring for “corporate roles, including technology positions, globally in its Amazon stores business, which covers the company’s retail and operations, and accounts for the bulk of Amazon’s sales” by mid-Oct. Then in late October, the company froze hiring for its lucrative web services division, Amazon Web Services. more here
All the multinational companies are cutting their staff significantly after the election. More ‘interference’ – making sure the illusion of a functioning economy existed for Brandon.
How many dislike this current administration and the the economy, and still post on Facebook, shop at Amazon, and use Google.
It won’t change until people put their money where there mouth is, so to speak.
…but noooooo – there’e no recession!
Less disposable income, thanks to Jackass Joe, slows everything down!
Well that’s a hell of a tell.
Buckle up, the rides gonna get bumpy.
Fire 10,000 there and 7,000 on the other account
YOU’VE BEEN FIRED
A shrinking economy is a great help when it comes to shrinking populations.
Maybe they will let go the ones that have been losing my orders the last few months.
WENT TO A BIG LOTS THE OTHER DAY, HEARD THEY’RE CLOSING DOWN IN JANUARY..NOT ALL STORES, BUT DOWNSIZING THEIR FOOTPRINT
IT’S EVERYWHERE AND ONLY THE BEGINNING
WELL DONE, BIDEN VOTERS AND DEMOCRAT ELECTIONEERS
SHOULD I ORDER MY JOEK BIDEN MEMOIRS EARLY??
I wonder how those laid off workers voted? Matters not, they have a very short memory and will forget about their job loss. That is if they can’t find another job – that’s a different story. Those high-paid tech workers are in for a rude awakening…. their employer has abandoned them – whadda jolt!
Legends say : Always remember, THEY will deport you , after you Work , but always before your Freedom.
@¡BENITO THE BOMBED BEANER! I have a feeling our Big Lots is going to close down. I’m not seeing the merchandise come in – especially during covid. They stayed open despite every homeless person in town knows they can go in and steal and no one will stop them.
I’m sure the economy will have no effect on state and government workers or money thrown to foreign wars we have no skin in.
All those laid off will be living on the dole soon enough. Part of the plan…..
Laid off and fired employees will be placed on the government unemployment roles for monthly unemployment checks, food, medical and other assistance.
All paid for by taxpayers, Not the $Billionaires who are reducing their workforce.
Unfortunately the families who can’t pay the rent or who lose their home in foreclosure won’t be put up in swanky Hotels like Millions of illegal aliens.
It looks like it’s all in the plan to cripple the United States.
Bastardize and humiliate the US Military, decimate the oil industry, deplete the Emergency petroleum reserves, increase the National Debt, demonize families, create class divisions, increase inflation, decrease the purchasing power of the dollar, destroy fair and lawful votes, increase unemployment, more homeless, unlimited costly foreign entanglements and the handlers of our mentally diminished President continue their efforts of implementing Socialism/Communism.
Oh, of course pay no attention, my words are but a conspiracy theory of an aging man who knows his next 4 or 5 generations will pay the price for these destructive and treasonous actions.
Just lean back in your easy chair, turn on the boob tube with unlimited sitcom garbage as entertainment, watch it all unfold on MSNBS, CNN, CBS, and the other paid peddlers of propaganda. Enjoy it while you can, before it’s too late.
////end of rant\\\\
One should feel better after getting this off their chest.
But I Don’t.
I guess I’ll just sit back in my easy chair and watch Net Flix or Amazon videos and watch “Good Triumph Over Evil”. Too bad it doesn’t seem like reality after the movie is over.
I haven’t spent a nickel at Dr. evil’s Amazon in years.
Hopefully the next phase for Bezos is disbanding his Washington Post.
As Chris Plante says, it looks like a newspaper but it’s not.
All of these layoffs, although perfectly solid business practices, will raise unemployment. *Biden will find a way to raise our taxes to not be a burden to these companies (except Twitter because Biden hates Free Speech). Of course, he wouldn’t even think of stopping the flow of our $$$$$$$ to Ukraine.
*Biden = whoever is pulling his strings, (WEF, global bankers, Soros, etc.).
Now that the mid-terms are over and the red tsunami dissolved into a pink mist, we’ll be seeing a lot of this.
I have ordered virtually nothing from Amazon this year.
Stagflation! Malaise! Gee Mr Peabody, I feel like I’ve stepped into the Wayback Machine!
Recession? There is no recession.

@ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
Cleaning does lead to a calming effect.
Shooting leads to muscle memory and accuracy.
One facilitates the other.
