America, we have to fix the Disney problem on our own

[Stop buying their shit]

DeSantis’ new Reedy Creek board reportedly blindsided by sneaky ‘last-ditch’ move by Disney’s old guard.

BPR: Following the passage of Florida’s House Bill 9B, Governor Ron DeSantis boldly declared to Disney “there’s a new sheriff in town” and set about appointing a handpicked group of conservatives to a new board that would oversee Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District, stripping the entertainment giant of its long-standing ability to self-govern in the Sunshine State.

With a freshly minted name — the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District — the five appointed board members were to ensure that Disney will now “pay their fair share of taxes and honor their debts,” DeSantis vowed.

“The newly appointed members of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District include Bridget Ziegler, a vocal proponent of DeSantis’s education policies, including the Parental Rights in Education bill dubbed by critics as the ‘don’t say gay’ law that Disney leaders opposed last year,” The Washington Post reported in February. “Also named to the board: Ron Peri, who heads the Gathering USA, a Christian ministry, and three attorneys, including the president of the Federalist Society’s Orlando chapter.”

But in a plot twist DeSantis apparently didn’t see coming, as the governor was setting up the new board, the old Disney-controlled board quietly turned over all its power to Disney in perpetuity, leaving the governor holding what is effectively a bag filled with little more than pixie dust. MORE

  1. This really tells me that the author of this is an complete blithering idiot.
Of course Disney was going to try some illegal bullshit to fight back.
It was always going to require judges, lawyers, bureaucrats, & legislators to get this resolved.
The new board will resolve this shit but like Elon & Twitter, it will take a little time.
Anyone thinks that DeSantis is a shrinking violet doesn’t know the man.
He’s more of a clever, behind the scenes fighter that gets shit done.
He doesn’t waste his time tweeting all day.
He will make a fantastic President someday and you will thank your lucky stars.

  2. My war on Disney started a long time ago, back when Michael Eisner was still CEO (tied with Jeff Emhelt as the worst CEO in American history) so it was easy to dump all my stock and vow never to darken their doors.

When Bob Igor took over I adopted a wait-and-see attitude. His business acumen was superb, buying Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm, but his progressive agenda was tattoed on his forehead. The stock went up as he gutted traditional family values and embraced every woke idea to the detriment of the brand.

So now there is not a more evil, degenerate, anti-family company out there and I enjoy all the missteps, the business flops, and the shitty movies that make no money.

If they get into a knife fight with RDS, they will lose.

  3. According to the Babylon Bee from 2 days ago on 3-28, Due to massive layoffs, Snow White is down to 3 dwarfs now, Bashful, Doc and Happy, the other 4 dwarfs are being laid off. And Disney may also lay off 90 of the 101 dalmatians as well. Disney, ABC, ESPN etc. needs to be totally boycotted by normal American citizens and driven out of business. No more House of Mouse, the Mouse has become a Louse.

  4. Nope.

““We’re going to have to deal with it and correct it,” said board member Brian Aungst Jr. “It’s a subversion of the will of the voters and the Legislature and the governor. It completely circumvents the authority of this board to govern.””

The people have to handle this, not the state.

  5. I’m all for voting with your wallets, but as far as Disney World is concerned, they will be fine without our dollars.
Going to the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot in the Fall is something I always look forward to.
I used to run the Disney Marathon every January as well, and plan to run it again.
I’m not going to watch their woke BS but I still enjoy the parks and can still believe in Walt’s vision.

  6. I suppose voice is too stupid to understand snark?
He can’t even spell his name consistently, telling me he is such a moron he can’t figure out drop-down boxes.

If you want some of this I will happily oblige.
I’ve got a sharp tongue and quick wit so take your best shot but you best not miss.
As for my last comment, I simply wanted to know the *current rules of engagement here.

  7. I own all the Pixar flicks my kids grew up with, so my grandkids can enjoy them. They are pre-Disney. Since Disney, the movies are woke and suck.

We NEVER went to Disney parks or on Disney cruises. Overpriced and patronized by losers. My BiL would take his family MULTIPLE times per year, every year for years, when his wife had vacations from teaching, which also meant they paid peak prices. (very stupid, imo). But they would obediently follow some of his relatives that only did the same.

Fortunately, they had to visit us out west and it turned them on to visiting the REAL world, national parks, great places in the US and abroad, and it’s changed their horizons. So happy for them!

  8. Bored members, but,but butt our sorry asses will have nuttin to do. I’m bored, chairman of the bored. Well I’m bored in the morning, bored at night, bored all day cause I’m chairman of the bored.
