May God above protect what they gave all to protect.
Incredibly long list of those Americans who lost their lives in Wars/conflicts/operations or struggled and died of their wounds after these military conflicts.
Were their sacrifices acknowledged by a grateful Nation?
Many of our young over the last 6 decades, were never taught of how this Nation got where we are today or the sacrifices made by those before us.
Even today many have no idea of the reason or significance of Memorial Day.
My heart breaks for what their families endured and are experiencing.
God Blessed America.
A Gallup poll in 2000 revealed that only 28 percent of Americans knew the true meaning of Memorial Day, and 40 percent confused it with Veterans Day. I suspect the percentages have not changed.
The meaning of Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is the day to remember those men and women who died while serving in our nation’s armed forces, whereas Veterans Day is a day to celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans.
Since the first struggles for National Freedom, to the founding of our nation years ago, more than 1.3 million men and women have died in service to our nation.

It seems that History isn’t being taught in the Government schools anymore and Memorial Day should be commemorated on May 30th on whatever day of the week that is .
Wow, that reminded me of when I pulled ‘funeral detail’ when I was stationed at Robins AFB. Actually it was for the burial, it was six pallbearers, three for the honor guard, and a bugle player, along with a bus driver and a lieutenant to run things. Enlisted usually got the detail twice a year. They can’t get bugle players anymore, now it’s a plastic bugle with a recording of Taps. It wasn’t that bad but the bus rides could be pretty long.

My cousin, retired Army Full Bird Colonel, has played TAPS for over 2,000 funerals of Veterans. He is a member of “Bugles Across America”.
