Amsterdam introduces ‘stay away’ campaign to discourage several kinds of tourism

(SCHENGENVISA INFO) – Authorities in the Netherlands have decided to introduce in Amsterdam a new campaign called “Stay Away”, in order to discourage specific kinds of tourism. The new decision comes following the Netherlands’ capital liberal laws related to drugs, alcohol and sex, which have created this city a reputation that anything goes, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

According to local media reports, international visitors have taken advantage of such an image of this city, thus creating new problems for this city. MORE

  1. Takes a lot of Drugs and Alcohol to keep those Neanderthal Vajajays from smelling.
I woke up this morning at 4:00 am. Parched. No Saliva Glands. Flipped on the tube and found “50 Shades of Black” playing on the Black Entertainment Network. A Parody on 50 shades of Grey. I laughed so hard at the first couple minutes I woke up the wife, who laughed her butt off with me watching the balance. A must watch if you get the chance. Still more moral than the Netherlands

  2. Amsterdam was the model my grade and middle school teachers in the late 1960.s and early 1970’s were all atwitter over highlighting as the epitome of enlightened progress in society. I took a more measured approach and said I am going to reserve judgment until I do a little independent research. What I concluded is that what urban northern Europe was pursuing was not going to result in anything I considered decent and responsible societal order.

If a kid can figure that out…

  3. The “Stay Away” program has been going on for over a decade under other names. They closed down the window shopping in the red light district and put tighter restrictions on the “tea” houses as the clientele had changed. It still goes on but the level of digression is a lot higher. Warsaw Poland has become the “New Amsterdam” to fill the void.

  4. My family visited Holland in the early 60s.
Beautiful country. Kinda flat. Tulips as far as the eye could see.
Canals with people living on the barges – chickens, dogs, cats, whole families.

  5. @Tim – FJB: The Chinese have been living on their junks for hundreds of years. I visited Hong Kong back in the early 70’s, those living on the junks never leave the junk.

No one took advantage of visitors but the authorities who made such venues available to “visitors.” The governments makes pay as well. There’s many more Sodom and Gomorrah’s to visit in this world. The Netherlands will squeal like a pig if tourism folds up.
