A Finnish man who was shocked by the cost of a battery replacement for his Tesla Model S decided that blowing up his electric car with an Elon Musk dummy inside would be a more suitable solution.
The owner said that he lost his faith in Musk’s company after he was told to pay 20,000 euros (around $22,500) for a new battery for his car. He was apparently among the early buyers of the Tesla Model S, which had been around since 2012, so his warranty had already expired. more
Sucks to be you. Chump.
Good for him.
Sometimes when a company pisses you off that much you have to make an emotional decision for your sanity.
That’s the price you pay for being a greentard.
Now get a haircut.
A thousand pound battery ain’t cheap. He’s lucky he got 10 years out of it.
Yup. Motive power batteries use lots of hazardous chemicals and are VERY specifically sized and shaped to the vehicle in which they are installed as they are a MAJOR component in its steering geometry, traction, and CG. Sonce they are so specific there is usually only a single source for them, and that means you buy from them at whatever price they give you, or you get nothing.
Sometimes the battery OEM decides there isn’t enough money in it and stops making it. Then you have NO battery source and a car that’s permanently bricked.
…and wait till you find out what the hazardous waste disposal fees are…
Will junkyards take EV’s?
If he’d waited a little longer, it would have blown up on its own.
Bet he could have sold it to a gearhead who would want to do a V8 swap.
To paraphrase Phil Collins:
HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, owwwwwww…
I can’t believe the chassis lasted that long much less the battery.
I see that as our not-too-distant future.
I remember about 50 years ago a guy set fire to his Lincoln Continental on the lawn of the Ford offices in the San Francisco Bay Area. He always wanted to have a Lincoln and he scrimped and saved to get one. It turned out to be a dog and Ford offered little or no help to resolve the issues.
Norway: fought the Germans, lost.
Denmark: fought the Germans,lost.
Sweden: too wuss to fight anybody
Finland: skinned all invaders alive, hung human pelts from trees.
No one in Scandinavia really “does” Finland. Just too spooky.
BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!…
Sweet sweet shadenfreude…
Whoever did the demo set off a good explosion! The video was good, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. My thumbs up to him!
Burr, plus the most accomplished sniper (Over 500 confirmed kills) is a Finlander. I think it was Nazis he killed, but if they were Russians he’d been fine with it.
Simo Häyhä
The Fins don’t do anything half way. Look him up.
Some of Häyhä’s figures are from a Finnish Army document, counted from the beginning of the war, 30 November 1939:
22 December 1939: 138 sniper kills in 22 days
26 January 1940: 199 sniper kills (61 in 35 days)
17 February 1940: 219 sniper kills (20 in 22 days)
7 March 1940 (one day after he was wounded): total of 259 sniper kills (40 in 18 days)
Häyhä never discussed it publicly, but his own private memoir, discovered in 2017, shares a figure. He begins by stating that “this is his sin list”, and estimates the total number shot by him to be around 500.
He used an iron sighted Mosin Nagant that was produced by Sako. Put snow in his mouth so as to not have stam from his breath rat him out to his enemies.
Was comatose for a week after having half his face blown off and his rifle has not been recovered. It was a privately purchased weapon that he used in competitive shooting.
How do you say I love you in the Scandinavian countries?
Norway: Jeg elsker deg.
Sweden: Jag älskar dig.
Denmark: Jeg elsker dig.
Finland: RAKASTAN SINUA.
It’s like a picture of Colin Kaepernick with his three adoptive brothers. No one knows where he came from, one day he just started appearing in family photos. Same with Finland.
I read a book about him a while back, it was rather interesting. It was Germans he was up against.
No, I was wrong it was Soviets
So in about twenty years a bunch of Democrats are going to have to replace their expensive car batteries?
Shoulda answered his phone when the ‘extended warranty’ folks called.
