AOC Broke House Ethics Rules With Met Gala Appearance, Ordered To Repay $2,700 for ‘Tax the Rich’ Gown

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) violated House Ethics rules after she attended the 2021 Met Gala in her infamous “Tax the Rich” dress, the House Ethics Committee ruled Friday, ordering her to repay a fashion designer nearly $3,000 for the gown.

The committee found that Ocasio-Cortez accepted “impermissible gifts” during her participation in the ritzy event, including her custom-made dress and the rented luxury shoes and jewelry she wore at the gala. The fair market value of the rented clothing and accessories Ocasio-Cortez wore to the event clocked in at $3,700, but the New York lawmaker ultimately repaid those vendors under $1,000—payments she made months after the event and only after one of her stiffed vendors threatened to file a legal complaint against her campaign, the committee report notes.

  1. The article states that most of the responsibility was with her staff.

    2 problems:
Firstly, this has been going on for years rather than solved withing 30 days of the complaint. The staff Can’t be that Useless, can they?

Secondly, Whenever My company has ANY NON RESOLVED issue I, Me, Prime Jackass #1 solves it directly ASAP. I is OUR name on the Letterhead.

  2. When she slithered into DC she was broke and wanted to know when they were going to get a check. Six years later she has over 20 million dollars. Just goes to show crime does, indeed, pay.

  3. The committee voted unanimously, 5 Dem and 5 GOP. That’s decent.
The $2,700 she owes is for the RENTAL of the dress. Which would suggest that it is worth several times that. Well, to someone.
I haven’t seen a response from AOC, wonder whether she will whine (against her own party, no less) or just shut up and pay quietly.

  4. Par for the course for a democrat:

    – Hang out with the rich, and make up for it by wearing some stupid virtue signaling dress that says “Tax the Rich” while supporting laws that screw the middle class.

    – Claim to be a tough street girl from the Bronx when you’re really just a spoiled rich kid from Westchester.

    – Carry on about “white privilege” when you’ve only dated white guys your entire life.
