JTN:
Tech giant Apple this week said it would soon be opening its iOS system to a sophisticated “lockdown” feature, an “extreme” feature that will permit users to protect their phones against major cyberattacks.
The company said in a news release that its next release of iOS in the fall would include an option for “Lockdown Mode,” what the company called “an extreme, optional protection for the very small number of users who face grave, targeted threats to their digital security.”
When activated, Lockdown Mode “hardens device defenses and strictly limits certain functionalities, sharply reducing the attack surface that potentially could be exploited by highly targeted mercenary spyware,” Apple said. more
… unless it’s Apple that wants to snoop.
We’re from Apple and we’re here to help. 😉
Just when you felt safe to log back on, yet another attack. How many is that???
Want total protection from hacking?
Turn your smartphone off and wrap it in some aluminum foil.
Or, throw it away and get a dumb phone.
Tin foil is saved for making my hats. An alternative?
^^ My trusty 3g Nokia cell phone “no longer supported.”
Replaced it with a 4G (feature) flip phone- 40 bucks at Wallymart.
Turned off all unnecessary snoop-type features e.g. GPS, Wi-Fi, internet etc.
Hope did good.
Steven – you can spend real money on small Faraday cases for phones. Also, tossing it permanently into saltwater is cheap and effective.

Once upon a time when Steve Jobs was still alive Apple was the privacy company. Now they are just another arm of the gov and nothing you do on their products is secure.
Stay off sites like Twitter & Ticktock & you won’t have to worry about spyware.
Of course in Lockdown Mode your iPhone will be completely unusable & you have to call Apple to turn it back on. Sorry for the slight inconvenience. Have a great day.
Does this feature work if you haven’t updated your iPhone software since you bought the phone?
I don’t think a single covid related software has been installed, so I doubt anything new has, either.
Just say no.

Windows 10 & 11 are directly hooked up to DHS, etal.
Apple isn’t the only service provider providing free service to spying agencies and related clients.
It’s just the one we’re talking about today.
Reading the text, it sounds like an optional feature the user turns on and off.
Is it?
To coin a phrase; ‘What could go wrong’…
