Archaeologists Find Mile-Long Neolithic Structure Near Stonehenge Site

BigLeaguePolitics: Archaeologists claim to have discovered a ring of prehistoric shafts nearby the Stonehenge monument in southern England.

Researchers from the British universities of St Andrews, Birmingham, Warwick, Glasgow and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David claim that the 1.2 mile long circle of shafts dates to 4500 BC, dating before the construction of the well known Stonehenge monument in 3000BC. Both structures date from the Neolithic period, although the ring of underground shafts appears to be considerably older than Stonehenge itself. more here

  1. my conjecture … people in the ancient world realized existence was nothing more than being ejecta from a massive butthole, & decided to glorify their ‘birth’ from …

  2. Could it be that the two are somehow interconnected or meant to be related? Otherwise, I hope these ancient monuments won’t be destroyed by today’s mankind so that they will be witnessed and preserved by more generations to come.

  3. This was a border surrounding a village to resist raiders. Each hole was a cistern for storing water for the multiple small encampments of “soldiers” who guarded the border.

  4. “Clearly sophisticated practices demonstrate that the people were so in tune with natural events to an extent that we can barely conceive in the modern world.”

I believe that because they didn’t have FaceBook, cell phones, TV or common core math…

You believe that stone age people were capable of “sophisticated practices”, because they didn’t have social media, and common core math?

Or you believe that people who have social media, and common core math, find stone age people “clearly sophisticated”?

  6. ^^^ Translation for the slow one here ^^^:

The more our thinking is done for us – the weaker our brain muscles are.

How many phone numbers does the average person know by heart.

I could rattle off 50 back in the 80s. Since I don’t need to know them by heart anymore, I think that number is around 5 now.

    Get it?

Same goes for math. That’s why I figure out my measurements first in my head and verify them with the calculator. It’s handy to have that ability on the fly. Too many people consider it magic thinking these days and don’t even try.
