Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed a bill Tuesday that will at last purge indefinite registration of people on the state’s permanent early voting list.
The bill, SB 1485, was signed by Ducey shortly after the Arizona State Senate passed it by a margin of 16-14, along party lines. This comes as the Republican-backed Maricopa County Audit continues, with recent attempts by Dominion Voting Systems and Maricopa County officials to hide election machine data.

What is the excuse offered for the simple existence of a “permanent early voting list”? I can understand a permanent absentee voting list to accommodate, for example, disabled voters with mobility limitations.
But if someone asks to be on the perm. early list, why not request absentee status instead? What circumstances would make absentee voting not work?
There is no valid reason for early voting at all. Either show up at your polling place on election day, or follow all the rules to request and send in an absentee ballot. Plus, there needs to be a justification for asking for an absentee ballot attested to under penalty of perjury. Furthermore, needless to say, the signature on your ballot has to match the signature on file at the board of elections.
