ET: Two U.S. soldiers were questioned by Mexican troops earlier this month while conducting a surveillance operation on the U.S . side of the southern border, two U.S. defense officials told CNN.
“On April 13, 2019, at approximately 2 p.m. CDT, five to six Mexican military personnel questioned two U.S. Army soldiers who were conducting border support operations in an unmarked (Customs and Border Protection) vehicle near the southwest border in the vicinity of Clint, Texas,” U.S. Northern Command told CNN in a statement.
“The U.S. soldiers were appropriately in U.S. territory” during the encounter, the statement added.
During the incident, the Mexican soldiers pointed their weapons at the U.S. troops, removing a soldier’s sidearm and returning it to the unmarked U.S. vehicle, the officials said.
The Mexican troops were armed with what appeared to be assault rifles, according to one official.
Officials said that the U.S. soldiers allowed the weapon to be taken “in an attempt to de-escalate a potential volatile situation.”
“Throughout the incident, the U.S. soldiers followed all established procedures and protocols,” Northern Command said.
BULLSHIT! Put ARMED troops on the border with a shitload of firepower and dare them to try that shit again!
…enough of this. Protecting the border is one of the VERY few ACTUAL duties for the Federal Government. Posse Comitatus does NOT apply when fighting FOREIGNERS on the BORDER.
Put FULL military force on the border, and shoot ANYONE who invades.

If the US service member surrenders a weapon (bear in mind, reporting is seldom correct) they did so in an abundance of caution. They would not have done so if they thought their personal safety was in question.
Likely this was done to not have to have engaged the Mexican troupes in lethal conflict when it was not warranted.
These are decisions best left to those on the ground, in the area. Our guys know exactly what they are doing. Let them do their job.

I sometimes ride my duel sport motorcycle alone through the desert in Big Bend National Park. Those rides take me to trails along the Rio Grande River. It is a very isolated area along the border out there. There are places where you can wade to the other side if you want to. I don’t. I am always armed to the teeth when I ride out there, just in case. I am always hyper aware of my surroundings and within two seconds of having my pistol drawn. I’ve never had any trouble in the past out there, but I always expect it and I will use deadly force if the need arises.
This story pales in comparison to incursions by Mexican military that have occurred in the past. The U.S. GOV (in the instances of which I am aware) has never taken any action except to detain and, ultimately, release the offenders back to Mexico with their firearms. There has never been any satisfactory answers sought or given as to why.

Mexico is the cause of the current state of immigration nightmare. If the current mexican goverment isnt willing to stop this mess the US should remove it and install one that will.
Put armed Line troops on the Infantry Armor and Field artillery. This sound like it was an Observation post or a listening post that was in the drug/ people smugglers way. So they took it out. Set up an Ambush put 2 troops in a vehicle in about the same location but have an Infantry squad hidden nearby when the Mexican? Troops come along AMBUSH and KILL their sorry asses right there. Take the bodies to the nearest chunk of high fence and string the bodies up on the MEXICAN SIDE OF THE FENCE AS A WARNING.
