Army Corps of Engineers won’t grant easement for Dakota Access Pipeline

NYP:

Protesters at the Standing Rock Indian Reservation have successfully beat back the Dakota Access Pipeline, which will no longer be built across the sacred land, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Sunday.

“Today, the US Army Corps of engineers announced that it will not be granting the easement to cross Lake Oahe for the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline,” Standing Rock tribal chairman Dave Archambault II said.

The administration will not allow the four-state, $3.8 billion pipeline to be built under Lake Oahe, a Missouri River reservoir where construction was on hold, Corps spokeswoman Moria Kelley told reporters.

“Instead, the Corps will be undertaking an environmental impact statement to look at possible alternate routes,” Archambault said. “We wholeheartedly support the decision of the administration and commend with the utmost gratitude the courage it took on the part of President Obama, the Army Corps, the Department of Justice and the Department of the Interior to take steps to correct the course of history and do the right thing.”

  1. With the arctic front barreling down upon this state the ACoE may have been avoiding blowback from frozen ‘snowflakes’ – imagine a death resulting from the weather – the press would be in their glory.

  2. “Exactly what plans did the Indians have for that parcel of land under the man-made reservoir?”

    “It’s sacred.”

Meanwhile, my faith in God’s Word that sodomy is sin could get me fined or jailed.

    Lake of Fire.

    Maranatha.

  3. Well, we’ll just take a page from the dem playbook. When President Trump takes over he can go at it again and this time get it done, and all those clueless twat protesters can GTFO or be arrested.

  4. Exactly, BF

Can you imagine the US Army standing in the way of a project that helps ease our country’s most pressing security problem — a lot the world’s supply of oil is located in an area of the world that is an Anti-American lunatic asylum.

It’s treason. Ash Carter should be shit-canned for this. He should be sent to a place where he’ll have his own shit can Roto-Rooted

  5. Fake-ass indians whining about a fake-ass problem. Fucking worthless scumbags.

I already had little respect for those retarded savages. Fuck them al in the ass with dynamite.

  6. Anyway, don’t companies PAY people “rent” to run pipelines/powerlines through their property? And I’ve seen documentaries of Alaskan pipelines that are completely safe on the environment. Nature grows up around the pipes and carries on as usual. This is just a bunch of America hating, no-nothings trying to stifle American independence from foreign oil.

Because it’s not the people who are actually cutting people’s heads off and blowing people up that are the enemy, it’s those rascally, Jesus loving, individual freedom loving, conservatives – and anything they want for the country must be blocked at all costs – even it means committing national suicide.

  7. I personally know someone who went there. “U.S. did horrid things to the native Americans. We stole from them. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Blah, blah, blah.”

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the opportunity to tell him yes, we now give them everything for free, and Andrew Jackson was a Demoncrat.

  8. Why isn’t the Corp of Engineers out building bridges, somewhere, for the Army?
    Or digging out new harbors?

Just shut it down. It’s outlived its purpose and usefulness.

    izlamo delenda est …
