(The Center Square) – Five soldiers injured Wednesday at Fort Stewart in Georgia are stable and expected to recover from a shooting by an active-duty soldier, military officials say.

Three of the five wounded required surgery.

The suspect has been identified as Army Sgt. Quornelius Radford, of the 2nd Brigade combat team. Radford has never been deployed to combat and has since been interviewed by the Army Criminal Investigation Division, according to Brig. Gen. John Lubas, who briefed reporters later in the afternoon.

Lubas indicated that the suspect didn’t use a military-issued weapon. He praised soldiers for quickly stopping the shooter. more

    Sailer’s Law of Mass Shootings is that in incidents with four or more people killed or wounded by gunfire, if more are wounded than killed, the shooter (or often shooters) is probably black. But when more are killed than wounded, the shooter is likely nonblack.

    The corollary is that if the mass shooting happens on a Saturday night, it is almost certain to be black on black.

    Echoing Lowell’s point, it sounds like this guy was just a 3-striper, which is the lowest ranking SGT. If he was a career man, the DUI is not good and can certainly derail any future promotions.

    I wonder if we will get a look at his social media footprint or his performance reviews. The army will bury anything unsavory, no matter who is running it.

  13. Ya know I work with a lot of EX mil black guys. They’re great people. If you’re in for a while the military teaches you a certain amount of discipline. This guy was a Sergeant. I dunno. I think I need to know more. I’m not excusing him for what he did, I’m just saying doesn’t fit the profile I know.

  26. I served at Fort Stewart 2011-2015. 4th Brigade light infantry ( doesn’t exist anymore). I heard on the news that he was an E-6 not and E-5. I wonder what part of the base it happened on? The time makes it sound like the chow hall where you go to get food poisoning.
    I also heard the local courts/law enforcement hadn’t reported his dui to his division. Someone might have ratted him out. Maybe they took away his shaving profile (most black men have them) and that sent him over the edge.
    Just so everyone knows, soldiers aren’t waling around the base randomly with loaded weapons. If I recall correctly, private weapons need to be secured at the Company building (COF).
    E-6’s can live off base even when single. Every other unmarried soldier E-5 and below lives in the barracks.

  31. If you want to stop Active Shooter situations on military bases have all NCO’s and officer’s carry a pistol with ammo. Add to the mix all MP’s carry while off duty as well.

    People are more polite when they know a good percentage of those around them are armed.

  32. Have you noticed that nearly every time there is a murder in the military, the perp looks like one of Obama’s sons? I mean like 90 percent of the time.
    The other 10 percent is split between hispanics and whites. This shit needs to be addressed. I say this as a person with brown skin. And if I had a dollar for every time I heard a black military member use the words, “white mother f*cker” I would be rich, and they get away with it. Not only that, but there is a two-tiered justice system in the military. One groups gets away with crap, and other group doesn’t. Make a guess at the group that gets away with playing rap music at 0200.

    I got to a new unit in Germany in 1989. One of the black soldiers there asked me to loan him money. I declined, because people had the habit of not paying me back. So that same guy, whom I had never met before, started telling everyone, “He hates n*ggers.” Sigh…that bullshit spread like wild fire. You know, I never hated any group before Obama came into office. I worked with Kuwaitis, Saudis, and such. But I sure hate a certain group now, who are generally unaccountable, violent, misogynistic, racist against whites, etc. And that turd General Milley? Hey, schmuck, there is a reason for “white rage” and that reason is you made white people targets. Blank you and the horse your rode in on.
