Poulsbo City, Washington arresting homeless who refuse services

“Some were being aggressive toward citizens and children. The residents and visitors were concerned about going into their own parks.”

MyNorthwest: A small city across Puget Sound is taking an approach opposite of Seattle’s to combat homeless camping.

The Poulsbo City Council recently passed an ordinance that essentially states people can’t camp on public property. If people are found camping, asked to move, and refuse services offered by the city, those people can be arrested.

“We passed an ordinance that said people can’t camp on our streets,” Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson told Seattle’s Morning News. “We didn’t ever say that homelessness was illegal in Poulsbo.”

Erickson says the ordinance passed after an influx of homeless people reportedly began camping in the city, including at the Liberty Bay waterfront, which Erickson calls the “jewel” of Poulsbo. Erickson believes more homeless individuals began showing up after encampments around the county were cleared out.  more here

  1. I know it well. Nice little community. Used to do gigs at the yacht club. Poulsbo should employ the tactics of a South Park episode. The town of Evergreen used posters to extol the virtues of South Park so the homeless would move there. (I would use Olympia, the capitol, because it’s filled with liberals and government workers.)

  2. Paulsbo, like many quaint, beautiful places along coastal America has been ruined by leftist politics at the state level. Washington politics are dictated by the Seattle metro area which is overwhelmingly democrat (mostly transplanted Californians). Just like Oregon.

  3. They should be arresting them for squatting in front of a business or someone’s home.
In Santa Monica, CA, some city legislator assholes thought business owners shouldn’t shoo away people laying down in front of their doors. Yes, they’re that stupid. Because customers enjoyed the robberies, panhandling, unwanted touching of their bodies, grabbing children, doing drugs, drinking, yelling crazy shit, etc. It’s a great business incentive, right? Finally, the ruling was reversed and owners were allowed to basically hose these people off their walkways.

Start bussing these people to the capitol. The left made them, make them take care of their pets.
