Approximately 70 World War II aircraft will take to the skies over Washington D.C. on *NOW* September 26th. Starting at 11:30am ET, these historically sequenced warbird formations will fly over the Washington Mall in two minute intervals. The formations will represent the War’s major battles concluding with a missing man formation. Details!
h/t Doc.
If it were our fathers flying these planes they’d be dropping ordinance on DC
I was able to fly in the Lancaster from the Canadian heritage war plane museum in Hamilton.
Remember when They were the Confederate Air Force.???
Pepperidge Farm remembers..
Would love to see it…Just not in D.C.
…I love vintage aircraft, but it would be nice if they get to the Korean War sometime so I could see something my Pa might have navigated in…
There’s nothing like the growling sound of all that pure piston power!!
I’m only 30 miles from DC. I’ll have to peak my head out of the house occasionally this morning and look up to see what flies over. Sometimes the presidents helicopters fly over when they go to and from Camp David.
The Confederate Airforce had alot of their
planes in Galveston at one time.I fish near
the airport in Offatts Bayou.I enjoyed the
thundering sound of the B-17 and the plane Dad
flew on the B-25 in the south Pacific flying around
the bayou. I sure would like to be at the DC flyover!!!
Maybe it’s another coincidence but all these World War 2 airplanes will be flying over Wash. DC at approximately the same time as tens of tens of thousands and hopefully hundreds of thousands of Christians and others are gathered together on the National Mall by the Washington Monument to pray for our nation that God would heal our land. What a great way to celebrate not only our last War Victory but a new one led by God for the restoration of our nation. The timing is perfect.
The flyover route takes the planes along the Potomac river. Not near me. Bummer…

@geoff – That will be a pleasant surprise for them.
There’s a group rebuilding a Corsair at our local airport. We’ve built a couple small parts for them. Very cool plane. My father spent a lot of time in a B24.
Brad – You probably know, but the Corsair’s unusual wing design was for elevating the plane to give it enough prop clearance when taking off and landing. The engine’s power allowed it to swing a massive prop!

Corsair’s are my second favorite fighter. Naturally a P51 being the first.
America is a republic…”if you can keep it”…not a demonrat-ocracy
@ Brad: AGREED – followed by a P-47, a P-38 and a Hellcat, in that order, at least for me. Tough to pick only five, there were so many great planes!

Nothing flew over my house.
Today’s flyover was cancelled due to questionable weather.
