Asymmetrical Warfare and 4GW

How Militia Groups are America’s Domestic Viet Cong.

“It is interesting to hear certain kinds of people insist that the citizen cannot fight the government. This would have been news to the men of Lexington and Concord, as well as the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan. The citizen most certainly can fight the government, and usually wins when he tries. Organized national armies are useful primarily for fighting against other organized national armies. When they try to fight against the people, they find themselves at a very serious disadvantage. If you will just look around at the state of the world today, you will see that the guerillero has the upper hand. Irregulars usually defeat regulars, providing they have the will. Such fighting is horrible to contemplate, but will continue to dominate brute strength.”

Col. Jeff Cooper

Ammo.com: When one discusses the real reason for the Second Amendment – the right of citizens to defend themselves against a potentially tyrannical government – inevitably someone points out the stark difference in firepower between a guerilla uprising in the United States and the United States government itself.

This is not a trivial observation. The U.S. government spends more on the military than the governments of China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, India, France, United Kingdom, and Japan combined. Plus, the potential of a tyrannical government is arguably upon us – with the federal government spying on its own citizens, militarizing local police departments with equipment and tactics from the War on Terror, and repeatedly searching Americans, which desensitizes them to this invasive process.

There is much historical precedent, however, for guerilla uprisings defeating more powerful enemies. For instance, the Cold War saw both superpowers brought to their knees by rural farmers – for the Soviets, their adventure in Afghanistan against the Mujahideen, and for the United States, the Vietnam War against the Viet Cong.

In both cases, nuclear weapons could have been used against the guerilla uprising, but were not. Even assuming the use of nuclear weapons from the position of total desperation, it’s hard to imagine they would have made much of a difference in the final outcome of either conflict. Unlike the invading armies, the local resistance enjoyed both broad-based support as well as knowledge of the local terrain.

Now imagine such a scenario in the United States. You wouldn’t be the first person to do so. From Red Dawn to James Wesley, Rawles’ Patriots series, there is a relatively long-standing tradition of American survival literature about the hoi polloi resisting the tyranny of big government, either before or after a collapse.   more here

  1. “…superpowers brought to their knees by rural farmers…for the United States, the Vietnam War against the Viet Cong.”

    FALSE.

The Cong later admitted that our high altitude bombings had them psychologically beaten and ready to quit. Traitorous leftists like Cronkite and a Democrat Congress cutting war funding saved them, and defeated the U.S.

  2. These idiots have it all wrong, we are not like the Viet Cong, they are. The left and it’s enablers in the media and academia are the real VC who hide in plain sight undermining everything that is good about America and our founding. We are not the ones who are out to destroy this country because we disagree with it’s founding, once again they are. They are the ones who need to be exposed and I believe that’s what’s happening now with all the chaos and rioting, destruction on the part of the left and their Antifa storm troopers to disrupt not only this upcoming mid term election but to totally destroy everything if they gain power again. God forbid, but I also believe that they have so far overstepped that even the average moron is beginning to understand that they are the real enemy and it’s not us. They have awoken a sleeping giant who will not easily be persuaded by all their lies and deceptions and they and we know it. Pray my friends like you’ve never prayed before because if they have their way we will be in for 70 yrs. of hell like what happened when the Bolsheviks seized power in Russia 100 years ago. But I believe that we still have time to thwart them since they’ve declared their evil intentions for everyone to see. I’m up in the middle of the night because I can’t sleep and praying that this will not happen.

  3. Viet cong were gone by 1969 and we fought the north. US combat troops left in 72, and Saigon fell in 74. The south was fighting well, but ted kennidick cut off all funds. They were rationing out bullets in the end, while soveits and chinese fully funded the north, no cong

  4. Oversimplification, of course.
The Bolsheviks infiltrated and corrupted the Czarist Armed Forces – they didn’t beat them in the field.
The “Partisans” who fought against Germany in WWII were mostly annihilated.
The Revolutionary Americans were supported by France.
England lost her Empire largely because of her loss of will – England no longer felt the moral correctness of Empire and tried to set her colonies on courses of Independence. Belgium’s colonies were a gross financial burden, as opposed to a financial gain – and thus ejected them.

Usually (if my understanding is correct) if the gov’t has the will to be absolutely brutal and merciless – it will win.
Seems like most people (or, at least, a lot of them) will walk into the ovens rather than see their children abused (in the most horrible ways imaginable).

    I have been wrong, before.

  5. Anyone who uses “the federal government” in bearing to “its own citizens” has engaged in a categorical mistake. Regarding the argument made, everything that follows is in error.
