At Least 6 Dead After Explosion On Popular Istanbul Pedestrian Street

KEIB: At least six people have died and 81 were injured in relation to an explosion at a popular pedestrian street in Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced in a television address on Sunday (November 13) via NBC News.

“The explosion might be a terrorist act. A woman is thought to be involved,” Erdogan said.

Vice President Fuat Oktay — who also acknowledged the possibility of the explosion being a terrorist attack — later confirmed that the injured total was 81, which included two people reported to be in serious condition.

Erdogan referred to the incident as a “treacherous attack” and vowed to punish the perpetrators. The president didn’t specify who was suspected of being behind the attack, but acknowledged that the incident had the “smell of terror.”

Erdogan confirmed that four people were pronounced dead at the scene and two others at a nearby hospital. MORE

The Kurds will be blamed and this will usher in a pogrom – they killed all the Christian Armenians so they can’t blame them.

  2. I have walked down that very street in Istanbul. It’s actually very beautiful and peaceful. No cars, just people walking and the occasional old-world streetcar running down the middle ringing it’s bell. Some con artists tried to relieve me of my money, but I was wise to their ways and they got nothing for their efforts. Had I not planned ahead, I would have been taken for over a grand. Other than the usual scam artists that every big city has, I felt safe walking around Istanbul, but that was back in 2004. I’d go back there again before I would go to New York.
